Yesterday i went through most of the stores, markets and streets for a simple market survey for one of my favorite crops (cabbage), i can attest that this gem 💎 will always be your best friend either as a farmer or consumer. Cabbage is easy to grow just like tomatoes and many other crops, no one should ever lie to you, the only difference is their good long shelf life, multipurpose use, and my bias towards them as #bwanambeu the #1Farmer otherwise there's no difficult crop besides those growing well in certain weather conditions. Today, we face a food crisis in Sub Saharan Africa because we are fixated on corn 🌽, yam, cassava...when there's plenty nutritious content crops that is going to waste more than the maize or cassava but we do not bother to divulge them. Let's diversify our consumer habits and get the real benefits food can offer, we have the good fertile land, more than enough water and favorable weather conditions as a continent. #irrigation #agriculture #irrigationinzambia #farminginafrica #zambianfarmers #africanfarmers #dripirrigation #rainfall #rainhorse #ClimateSmartAgriculture #freshfarmproduceZambia #freshfarmproduceLusaka #freshfarmproduceSolwezi #VegetablesforsaleinLusaka #VegetablesforsaleinSolwezi #VegetablesforsaleinCopperbelt #SeedlingsforsaleinLusaka #SeedlingsforsaleinCopperbelt #SeedlingsforsaleinSolwezi #farmsinSolwezi #farmsinlusaka #farmsincopperbelt #farmersinlusaka #farmersinsolwezi #farmersonthecopperbelt #farmersincopperbelt #fruitsinlusaka #fruitsincopperbelt #fruitsinsolwezi #Bwanambeu the #1Farmer

The majority of smallholder farmers in #Kenya largely rely on rainfall to irrigate their crops, as only six percent of farmland in the country is irrigated. Futurepump Ltd’s #solar water pumps provide a #sustainable solution for #irrigation in rural areas, making farmers self-reliant in food production and hence eliminating hunger. Futurepump was a part of REEEP’s 10th Call in 2013, which helped them test finance plans and decide whether they wanted to be financing their products or focus on manufacturing. Find out where they are now and check out our interview with them in our Annual Report! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eyyJtvSM Futurepump is ensuring that people in #Africa have access to food. the increase in population, the demand for #Food is increasing, and the natural resources (especially #Groundwater) of the state of #Punjab are depleting at an alarming rate. #Paddy-Wheat is the major cropping system of Punjab which is followed in more than 30 lakh hectares. Profits from this system are decreasing every year due to increase in cultivation costs Therefore, to make agriculture more profitable, there is a need to adopt #multi-cropping systems that use #limited_irrigation_water. Under such conditions, some cropping systems such as #Paddy-#wheat-#summer_sorghum, #Paddy-#potato-#summer_sorghum, #direct_sowing_paddy-#wheat-summer sorghum, paddy, etc. paddy-potato-summer sorghum are very good crop rotations that have the potential to give #higher_profits due to #efficient_use of #irrigation water.

For most in the Cotton Belt, March represents the calm before the storm. During this period, we can dive into the details of what worked or did not work last season. While it is easiest to just keep doing what we have always done, staying constant while everyone else is working toward continuous improvement is moving in the wrong direction. Most everyone will need to adjust the coming season’s game plan. However, it is common for some to over-adjust based on just last year’s issues. The 2018 Farm Bill has four categories of programs to help farmers and ranchers, but less than ¼ of the headline cost actually goes to farmers and ranchers. Geopolitics play a crucial role in ensuring food security on a global scale. The interplay between global political relationships, territorial disputes that amplified the last years and access to resources greatly influences the availability and distribution of food. Geopolitical factors such as trade agreements, sanctions, and conflicts can disrupt food supply chains, leading to food shortages and price fluctuations. Additionally, control over arable land, water resources, and agricultural technologies can determine a country's self-sufficiency in food production. Understanding and navigating these geopolitical dynamics is essential for stakeholders to develop strategies that promote sustainable food production, equitable distribution, and long-term food security for all nations. #geopolitics #foodsecurity #agribusiness

Let wetland do its job: Filter water. Indiana Prairie Farmer featured a dairy farmer who developed wetland with NRCS advice but no cost-sharing. "The goal is for water that eventually moves out of the wetland and off our land to be as clean as possible.” Agroecology + Innovation Matters thanks the resilient producers who are putting in the needed effort to build healthier soil and protect our waterways. https://lnkd.in/gEkn-wRV cc: Farm Progress #AIMillinois #TakeAIM #conservation #illinoisagriculture #sustainablefarming #regenerativeagriculture #regenerativefarming #regenerativefarm #agvocacy #agriculture #farmer #illinois #farmersofillinois #sustainability #covercrops #soilhealth #farming #farm #agriculturelife #conservationchampions
