When the script is flipped and I equip PATIENTS have to have better conversations! I recently had the chance to be a guest on the F-U Cancer podcast, where I shared tips to help patients feel more confident leading conversations with their doctors. —here’s what I recommend: - Bring a list of topics you’d like to discuss. - Prioritize your top concerns—your clinician may only have time to address 1-3 issues thoroughly. - Speak up for clarity—if something feels unclear, it’s okay to ask for an explanation. The truth is, providers aren’t mind readers. If you’re unsure about something, saying so helps us help you. We get it—short visits can feel frustrating. Many of us wish we had 30-45 minutes to answer every question you have. But with overbooked schedules and limited visit times, we’re balancing a lot too. At the end of the day, good communication makes all the difference. Coming prepared and being clear about what matters most can make those short visits more impactful—for both you and your care team.
