Come visit AHBL’s pop-up this Saturday at the @Seattle Design Festival at Lake Union Park. Our landscape architecture team will be there from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. hosting a scaled model-sized board game where the more trees, people housed, and salmon spawning, the better! We hope to see you there. Read more about our pop-up "A World That Loves and Nurtures All" here: https://zurl.co/8rme #AHBL #AHBLLife #LandscapeArchitecture #Seattle #SeattleDesignFestival

The quality of the #openspaces is almost more important for the city than the buildings themselves. It is the space where people spend time and come together. If this in-between space has no quality, if people don't feel comfortable in public spaces, then no urban district will emerge. For us as #architects, the spaces that promote social exchange and encounters are important, regardless of the functions that bring people to the place. As our global population continues to grow, the demand for innovative, sustainable urban architecture has never been greater. Architects working in the realm of urban design face a unique set of challenges - from navigating dense city landscapes to creating spaces that foster community and enhance quality of life. Effective urban architecture requires a deep understanding of the complex, ever-evolving nature of the modern metropolis. It's about more than just designing striking individual buildings; it's about crafting cohesive, livable environments that seamlessly integrate with the surrounding urban fabric. #UrbanArchitectureDesign #Designarchitectureconsulting #Sustainableurbandesign #Mixedusedevelopmentarchitecture #Landscapearchitecturedesign #Buildingdesignsolutions

Let nature in! It's pretty widely understood that interactions with nature are good for us. Most of us will have felt our stress levels drop while walking in nature, experienced the energy rush that comes from a cold dip in the ocean, and have been captivated by a Pīwakawaka swooping right in front of us, but what about nature in our homes, in our architecture? We usually seek the benefits of exposure to nature when we're on holiday, or on the weekends - yet we spend most of our lives in our homes. Creating these human-nature connections has become a core principle in my architectural design process, and it's creating some beautiful results. I’ve always been fascinated by the tops of tall buildings. The way each building meets the sky, and how the pinnacle of the tall building is articulated. It’s a skill and an art form in of itself, whether the building is 10 stories or 50 stories. Some can feel like little buildings themselves. I find a lot of the classic early 20th century skyscrapers the most interesting because of the level of articulation of the form and the details that are inherent in that era’s #architecture. #Cities #Buildings.

Day 20 of World Landscape Architecture Month reflecting on creating objects with multiple functions in urban public spaces. #wlam2024 American Society of Landscape Architects The best public spaces provide variety, joy and flexibility, allowing people to determine the function of objects based on how they interpret them. What if a sculptural form was also a seat, a play opportunity and public art? We need more playable landscapes as well as play spaces. It was a joy seeing the #sculpturalseats at #strandaldwych transformed into a playable landscape because it was interpreted as an object of play. LDA Design Millimetre Makes MUF ARCHITECTURE / ART LLP says it well, “Can we make spaces for more than one thing at a time? Where you’re not fixing the meaning but making something that can be appropriated?” #digitalfabrication #accoya #ldadesign
