At the University Centers for Career Development, we are dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and the job market, which is why universities need to equip students with the essential skills they need to thrive in today’s dynamic employment landscape. With that essence in mind, UCCD held a Labor Market Information (LMI) Refresher Training. Over the course of several days, participants gained a comprehensive overview of Egypt's labor market dynamics and acquired the essential skills to analyze and interpret labor market data. The training covered a wide range of topics, and participants also got hands-on experience utilizing data analysis, a valuable skill in today's data-driven world. Participants also had the opportunity to gain insights into qualitative research methods, such as in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. These qualitative techniques provided a deeper understanding of labor market dynamics, giving participants a well-rounded perspective. Mohamed Ihab, UCCD Labor Market Information Senior Manager, emphasized the importance of leveraging the expertise and resources offered by UCCD to support partner Egyptian Universities in establishing systems and mechanisms for the consistent and thorough identification of labor market demands. UCCD is immensely proud of everyone who participated in the LMI Refresher Training. Their dedication and commitment to staying ahead of the curve exemplify UCCD's vision of preparing students for success in the ever-evolving world of work. #USAID #AUC #UCCD #LaborMarketInformation #SkillsDevelopment #DataAnalysis #QualitativeResearch #CareerDevelopment #FutureOfWork

Yesterday, members of our team had the privilege of attending the SAIPA Ethekweni Convention at the Riverside Hotel. It was an incredible experience that reinforced the immense value of in-person events and training. In today’s digital age, virtual meetings and online courses have their place, but nothing compares to the energy, engagement, and connection that in-person interactions offer. Here are some of the key benefits we experienced: 🤝 Networking: Face-to-face conversations foster deeper connections and build relationships that can lead to future collaborations and opportunities. 📚 Learning: Interactive sessions and workshops provide a dynamic learning environment where ideas are exchanged, questions are answered in real time, and participants can engage directly with industry experts. 💡 Inspiration: Being surrounded by like-minded professionals in a focused setting stimulates creativity and innovation, motivating us to bring fresh ideas back to our work. 🌱 Growth: The hands-on experience and direct feedback we receive during these events help us to grow both personally and professionally. A big thank you to SAIPA and all the organizers for hosting such an enriching event. We’re excited to apply the insights and knowledge we’ve gained to better serve our clients and continue our professional development. #Networking #ProfessionalDevelopment #InPersonEvents #SAIPA #Accounting #ContinuousLearning #AustralAccounting

The professional field of career development was relatively new to me. I stumbled upon it a few years ago when I did the Facilitating Career Development (FCD) programme and then obtained the Certified Career Services Provider (CCSP) credential from the National Career Development Association (NCDA). Since then, it has been an eye-opener to find out more about how different stakeholders help Singaporeans prepare for healthy careers. It’s a relatively young but vibrant field in Singapore with practitioners who help: - students to prepare for the workforce; - mid-careers transit to new opportunities; - discouraged workers get back to the workforce; - persons with disabilities find employment; - former convicted re-integrate to the workforce; - employers and employees to understand career options within the organisation. Do sign up if you would like to meet up with other career practitioners in Singapore! It's a growing community with a diversity of language drawn from different areas such as HR, vocational psychology, counselling and coaching.
