Communication tip of the day: Repeat your key points at least three times. If you truly want your team to integrate information you share, they need to hear it more than once. The first time, they listen but may not fully grasp. The second time, distractions linger in their mind, keeping them from really listening. It's the third time that engagement and understanding truly kick in! And it’s not just in communication that we need to experience something more than once for it to sink in. A Russian ice skating team repeated their main tricks three times at the Olympics for the judges to truly appreciate those feats. On March 23, American figure skater Ilia Malininn became the Men's World Figure Skating Champion. His free-skate received the highest score ever recorded in the history of figure skating. When he was asked what he was focusing on to perform at this level, Ilia's answer was deceptively simple: "I rely on my muscle memory." You and I may not be world-class athletes, but we each have our own muscle memory. That's our body's memory of how we show up at our finest, on any given day. Cultivate that memory. Step into it, on a great day and a not-so-great day. Trust your muscle memory to help you navigate the perhaps not-so-easy moments in life. Here is my latest 2-minutes Essentials video: KNOW YOUR MUSCLE MEMORY.

At the 2024 Paris Games, Katie Ledecky solidified her status as a swimming legend by dominating the women’s 1500m freestyle. Ledecky, known for her long-distance prowess, finished with a time of 15:30.02, setting an Olympic record and securing her eighth career Olympic gold medal. This victory ties her with Jenny Thompson for the most Olympic golds by an American woman and matches the record of 12 total Olympic medals held by Thompson, Natalie Coughlin, and Dara Torres. Reflecting on her achievement, Ledecky expressed her gratitude to the great swimmers who inspired her journey. The race saw Ledecky leading from the start, and while she fell behind her world record pace, she maintained an Olympic record pace throughout. France’s Anastasia Kirpichnikova took silver, and Germany’s Isabel Gose won bronze. Ledecky, who also won bronze in the 400m freestyle, looks forward to the women’s 4x200m freestyle relay and the 800m freestyle, aiming to become the most decorated female U.S. Olympian in history. #KatieLedecky #Paris2024 #Olympics #Swimming #1500mFreestyle #OlympicRecord #GoldMedal #TeamUSA #OlympicGames #WomenInSports #SwimmingLegend #SportsNews#KalkineTV #FinancialNews #StockMarketUpdate #InvestmentInsights #MarketAnalysis #EconomicTrends #StockTrading #FinancialEducation #MarketOutlook #InvestingTips #MarketWatch #GlobalEconomy #StockAnalysis #FinanceTalk #EconomicNews #StocksToWatch #MarketForecast #KalkineTVShow #FinancialTalkShow #InvestmentStrategies #MarketTrends

Steven Bradbury, an Australian speed skater, won the gold medal in the men's 1,000 meters short track speed skating event at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, in a way that is often referred to as the "Bradbury moment" or the "Bradbury strategy.” During the final race, Bradbury was competing against some of the top short track speed skaters in the world. In the last lap, Bradbury was way behind the leading pack and with no hope of reaching the podium when the leading skaters jostling for position met with a dramatic crash. All four of his competitors collided and fell, leaving him as the only skater on his feet. With all his opponents sprawled on the ice, Bradbury crossed the finish line, winning the gold medal in a race that had unfolded more like a game of chance than a traditional speed skating competition. Chance then, it seems, has a prominent role to play in our successes. You may be talented, worked hard, planned and prepared well but you can still get beaten by an adversary less talented. You may be smart, intelligent or deserving yet not wealthy. It appears to be true that an ounce of luck is worth a ton of talent; and the maximum success never coincides with the maximum talent, and vice-versa. However, once at the pinnacle of success, people often shy from accepting the role of luck because equating their achievements with luck is a belittlement of their intelligence and hard work. A 40-year study titled “Talent vs Luck: The Role of Randomness in Success and Failure," indicates that while some degree of talent is necessary to be successful in life, almost never the most talented people reach the highest peaks of success, being overtaken by mediocre but sensibly luckier individuals. According to the researchers, it’s evident that the most successful individuals are also the luckiest ones. And the less successful individuals are also the unluckiest ones.

Hello, and welcome back to Relative Advantage Heroes, our series where we talk all about Relative Advantage, Bountiful Cow’s very own method of growing a brand by finding the clear spaces in audiences, media and culture that competitors have missed. We’ll forgive you for missing out on the women’s 1500m short-track speed-skating final in the Youth Winter Olympic Games this previous February – but Chinese speed-skater Yang Jingru’s victory was such a perfect example of Relative Advantage, we’re simply had to resurface it. Conventionally, the unspoken rules of speed-skating carried down through years and years of competitions meant that everyone did the same thing during a game. Conserving energy was crucial, meaning you’d start the first few laps slow and steady along with the rest of the competitors. Then, towards the middle laps, you’d begin to get into position, trying to break out from the rest of the pack to sprint on your last laps to try and win. That’s how pretty much every speed-skating game went, more or less. Until Yang Jingru came along. Before this game, China had never won a gold medal in speed skating, and Jingru clearly had had enough of that. From the second the whistle blew, Jingru sprinted on the first lap leaving his opponents so far behind her wake, she ended up coming back around to sit at the back of the pack for the rest of the race. Incredible, really – having already sprinted past the rest from the get-go, Jingru was one lap ahead of everyone and was in the lead for the entire race despite tailing at the back for the majority of it. And make no mistake, Jingru’s moves confused the hell out of the rest of her opponents. When the whistle blew for the final lap, it was really blowing for Jingru’s final lap, which no-one else seemed to realise. In fact, Jingru herself tapped her team-mate on the back to indicate she still had one lap left to go – so at the back of the pack, Jingru took the gold medal, and whilst the other opponents started slowing down after what they thought was their final lap, Jingru’s team-mate sprinted past them all to nab the silver medal too. In one game, Jingru managed to blow speed-skating category conventions totally out of the water. ‘It was a daring move,’ she said, when questioned. ‘It was my own strategy, and it left everyone bewildered [but] it worked like a charm’. We’ll say. Within two and a half minutes, Jingru flipped the unspoken rules of speed-skating on their head and won a gold medal to boot. A truly perfect example of why following the herd never leads to greatness. Thanks for reading – tune in next time for more RA heroes!
