Athleta is now joining the ranks of #retailers introducing #ecofriendly #proprietary #fabrics this year. The high-performance “Train Collection” features their PowerMove fabric that underwent 3 years of wear testing by professional athletes and everyday consumers. The Interval Tight made in the PowerMove fabric is the anchor of the Train Collection. *The fabric is cut on the cross grain. This is an interesting note because in my own experience there are only a few examples of where you’d want to do this. This allows for more of a vertical stretch for various exercise movements. *The Interval Tight features an ergonomic pocket construction and bonded waistband that molds to curves as body heat rises. PowerMove is made of #recycled polyester from used plastic bottles. Features include: *Quick drying *Breathable *2-way compression and supportive stretch *Cooler/sleek hand-feel Homepage: It’s only when you get to the 3rd position (which is a rotating banner) is there any mention of PowerMove, but still no mention of “Train Collection.” This banner brings you to “Run & Train.” I want what they are saying in the 3rd banner on the #homepage to be moved above the fold and carried throughout all touch points of the new #product. The #customer should know this is a #new, special fabric #designed exclusively for her with corresponding pieces meant to fit various facets of her life particularly her #exercise or me time. Athleta (along with Gap Inc. as a whole) needs some fine tuning as YOY net sales for Q3 dropped 18% to $279M for the brand. Is this collection going to help Athleta compete with lululemon?
