The "Energy Transition and Entrepreneurship Summit" (𝐄𝐓𝐄𝐒) forum will be held for the first time in Armenia, organized by 𝐒𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐩 in cooperation with Startup Armenia. On the shores of Lake Sevan, within the framework of the Seaside Startup Summit, leaders and specialists of the energy sector will gather for two days to discuss critical issues: from liberalization to management, from mobility to the fight against climate change. Representatives from international organizations, educational institutions, the state sector, expert fields, and heads of large companies will also join the discussion. 🌍 The purpose of this forum, under the theme "Empowering Innovation for a Sustainable Future," is to address the challenges in the energy sector and create a platform for outlining solutions. Start-ups Need Strong Role Models to Succeed 🌟   In recent weeks, Hydrogen Mem-Tech (HMT) has actively engaged with the Norwegian government's policy process. Unfortunately, we were deeply disappointed by the recently released Entrepreneurship White Paper from Minister of Trade and Industry Cecilie T. Myrseth.   In my view, this document falls short. It fails to address the critical challenges growth companies like HMT face and lacks the bold, forward-thinking vision our industries urgently need. Key sectors such as green maritime shipping, hydrogen, and enabling technologies that can deliver on political promises of green exports, job creation, and innovation – were largely overlooked. These industries have the potential to drive Europe’s green transition further while creating value and employment in Norway. Yet, they depend on predictability and support to scale.   At HMT, we’ve seen substantial willingness and risk appetite from Norwegian Family offices. Without them, we would not have made it through the next phase. We've also been fortunate to attract engaged international investors who believe in our mission. This support has been crucial to our growth. Thank you 🙏 Many promising Norwegian growth companies, like ours, have seen a rise in foreign ownership in recent years. This reflects a lack of domestic risk-sharing mechanisms to keep innovation and ownership rooted in Norway.   When I started this company, my dream was to advance green shift technology and build something from scratch. I wouldn’t have dared to take on the risks of founding a start-up without the inspiration from pioneers who showed us what’s possible. Their journeys from start-ups to scale-ups and eventually to market leaders demonstrated that bold ideas can grow into thriving businesses, inspiring others to follow.   Today, our team based in Trondheim and Oslo is producing technology that make significant cuts in emissions. We’ve come this far because we believed in scaling innovation, just as the inspiring businesses before us did. But as we continue to grow, ownership increasingly leaves Norway.   And here lies the challenge: While Norway has a strong start-up ecosystem, scaling up remains a significant hurdle. Thriving scale-ups are critical, not only as drivers of innovation and impact, but as role models for the next generation of entrepreneurs. They show that growth is possible and worth pursuing.    Now more than ever, we need strong political leadership and bold policies. The government must act decisively to unlock the full potential of industries driving the green transition. Policies shouldn’t just talk about innovation and sustainability – they must lead by example.   How do we create an environment where innovation and growth truly flourish, where start-ups can confidently grow, and where pioneers continue to inspire the next wave of changemakers?
