Last of my mini post-frenzy on discrete element modelling of slope stability at the kind of decimetric scale... just a quick example I bashed up today with 3 (!) changed lines of code - a seemingly stable slope (top-left) but which contains a lower-dipping weak interface/fracture .. which is limited in extent - this can be seen by the incremental max. shear strain (top right) at this very early, almost non-visible stage of deformation. Middle panel is when things really "kick off", again incr. max shear strain shown on right. Bottom panel is a more evolved stage, with on the right shown the total displacement magnitude... the resolution here is about 1.4 m, frictional-cohesive materials, scale is shown. Enjoy! The definition of surface integral relies on splitting the surface Σ into small surface elements. Each element is associated with a vector dA of magnitude equal to the area of the element and with direction normal to the element and pointing "outward" (with respect to the orientation of the surface).

When conducting seismic design and assessment, selecting ground motion records in accordance with building code requirements is crucial for nonlinear time-history verification analysis. But how can you efficiently obtain these records? With Djura’s Record Selector, you can achieve this in just a few clicks, seamlessly adhering to global building codes like Eurocode 8 (including the latest updates), ASCE 7-22, and the Italian building code.
