Our Director of Sales and Marketing for Asia Pacific, Andreas Schneider, recently returned from an enriching #ISTATasia conference in Hong Kong.  Andreas was excited to be back in Hong Kong to meet industry friends and to see the Asian aviation market, for its most parts, back in full strength. He asserts that the industry is continuing to suffer from supply chain issues, anticipated reduced and deferred OEM deliveries for some time to come. Airlines and lessors are struggling to find capacity to fill the gaps, with the availability of suitable aircraft being scarce. In line with the IATA estimates that Asia-Pacific holds around 32% of the world air passenger market share and will continue to be a powerhouse driving growth globally, the region is one of GOAL’s focus markets. GOAL’s latest addition of two Airbus A350-900 leased to Fiji Airways end of 2023 contributed to its active fleet of 8 ATR and 9 Airbus A320family aircraft with four other operators in the region. #teamGOAL #aircraftleasing #aviation

What Has Happened To China Southern Airlines' Former Airbus A380s? As the only airline in China that has operated the Airbus A380 to date, China Southern Airlines received five A380 aircraft between October 2011 and February 2013. Subsequently, China Southern Airlines primarily used its A380s for international long-haul routes (such as Beijing to Los Angeles, Guangzhou to Sydney, etc.) and its most important domestic route (its base Guangzhou to Beijing). China Southern Airlines' A380 aircraft had achieved many remarkable performances, such as being the only profitable A380 fleet globally in 2019. However, after the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the civil aviation industry suffered an unprecedented blow, with many international routes being forced to suspend or reduce flights. The A380, as a giant passenger aircraft, was particularly hard hit, with its high operating and maintenance costs making it difficult to meet market demand. Which country has the largest aircraft orders in Asia Pacific? India currently holds 32% of Asia Pacific's total passenger aircraft order, making it the largest with China closely following behind at 26%. This has also catapulted India onto the global stage as it joins the United States and China to form the world's top 3 countries with the most aircraft orders. The demand for aircraft is not surprising given the country's push to elevate its aviation landscape. The Government has announced various initiatives, such as increasing the number of airports from the existing 149 to upwards of 200 by 2030 and increasing capacity at existing metropolitan hubs to further enhance their hub & spoke strategy. Turkish Airlines, Airbus, and Rolls-Royce recently announced new partnerships aimed at bolstering Türkiye's aerospace industry. In an era where airlines demand investments closer to home, Turkish Airlines is deepening collaboration with Airbus and Rolls-Royce through significant aircraft and engine orders, supported by the STEP initiative. This collaborative effort seeks to enhance Türkiye's aerospace sector and stimulate economic growth by 2038. The recent gathering in Istanbul saw the unveiling of the STEP program, highlighting Turkish Airlines' order for A321neo and A350 Family jets. With Türkiye's integral role in Airbus's supply chain and Turkish Airlines becoming the world's largest operator of Airbus A350s, the partnerships signify a strategic move towards localizing support facilities and fostering workforce development. Our Aviation Practice Group successfully acted as counsel to one third of the large aircraft orders – amounting to about US$9 billion (at catalogue prices) – announced at the Singapore Airshow 2024.    This year’s Airshow is still Asia’s largest and one of the most important aerospace and defence exhibitions in the world, and it saw the announcement of over 150 aircraft ordered by Southeast Asian and Chinese carriers. Showing signs that the region’s aviation sector may be due for a healthy rebound.    Partner Paul Ng, Head of Aviation, said that: “It is great to see the buzz of expectation returning to the Singapore Airshow, as we come out of the pandemic. Boeing has moved a step closer to securing another A350 customer for the 777X, with Thai Airways International’s announcement at the Singapore Airshow that it effectively has conversion rights built into its deal for up to 80 787s. Thai said that as part of its order for 45 GE Aerospace-powered 787-9s and 35 options, it has “secured a pathway to acquiring the Boeing 777X as part of this arrangement”. This, Thai says, will allow it to “potentially further enhance its fleet with superior range, capacity, and performance”. With a fleet of 17 777-300ERs in service, Thai has long been viewed as a potential customer for the 777X family, which comprises the 426-seat 777-9, the ultra-long-range 777-8 (395 seats), and the 777-8F freighter. Cirium shows Boeing already holds orders from four #asiapacific carriers for 80 passenger 777Xs (all -9s): ANA, Air India, Cathay Pacific, and Singapore Airlines. But news that the 777X now has a foothold at Thai will be disappointing for Airbus, given that the airline already operates 17 A350-900s and had been a customer for the A380 (all six of which have been parked since 2020 and are understood to have been sold). Airbus has no public plans to develop a larger offering sitting above the A350-1000, to take the place of the A380 in its product line. "Aircraft Collision handling" from my perspective *The location As an ex airline staff and the airline observer, this collision of aircraft could be happened during taxying, upon take off, and after landing on the aircraft runway. *The common cause. it happened cause the parking position of other aircraft near with the moving or active aircraft, usually collision occured due to the end of aircraft wing collide with the other aircraft's body part, could be the tail, or between wing to wing, or even on the head. *the prevention so the Role of the airport tower officer controller to manage this movement is crucial, while the pilot also should aware the condition of the airport , whether the situation is crowded with other aircraft which park around the location where he control the aircraft. beside that there is also additional equipment that can be used to detect and remind cockpit crew to avoid the collision. *the emergency procedures is the last action that can be handled by crew, with assistance of airport fire brigade or fire fighter. The intense and proper communication between crew to the tower and passenger must be smooth to have proper action. this is also very important part in incident or accident, to avoid further loss. my deep condolences for the casualty of this collision. the accident still under investigation and we wish can learn something from this accident and avoid this occured in the future. #wyndgmanchannel
