Accessibility widgets/overlays are scams (particularly for screen reader users)! "I hate those [accessibility widgets] because I think they make companies feel like they don't need to actually work on making something accessible, it is not a substitute for actual accessibility testing and, to me, it feels like just a band-aid that can almost make it worse sometimes", by a Fully Blind Research Participant. The idea of creating a physical product has always sparked in my head. After exploring platforms like Spline and getting inspired by products from companies like rabbit inc., I decided to try conceptualizing something unique. This resulted in the promotional-style video you see here, entirely crafted by me using free tools like Spline and CapCut. Now, diving into the concept: Rabbit was my initial inspiration, but the overall idea is to blend the enchantment of children's toys like the magic whiteboard "Etch a Sketch" with the nostalgic charm of a Tamagotchi. While I'm yet to explore the user experience (UX) and interface details for this device, the core concept revolves around developing a product tailored for children. The aim is to stimulate their creativity, educational, and learning journey through an AI-powered device, similar to the Rabbit R1 but focused on younger kids. With its square design, the idea is to encourage kids to hold it however they like. I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this concept. Maybe I could further develop and refine the idea. PS: The dates at the end don't mean anything! 😂

UX Research is a role that teachers (especially Special Education teachers) can easily transition into. Why? Because teachers have lots of transferable skills that map directly to user research. Studying student behaviors, analyzing data and trends, facilitating sessions, advocating for users, empathizing with users, writing detailed reports, communicating to stakeholders (i.e. admin) about user needs…the list goes on. Joshua Singer is one of my favorite writers to follow when it comes to UX practice and EdTech. He thinks deeply and I am always challenged by his thoughtful articles. With all of the content that gets circulated around daily, it is a significant feat to write something that causes people to keep thinking about it days (or months) later. That's what usually happens for me with Josh's articles. UX of EdTech had the privilege to publish his words today on the concept of "pace layers" which describes how complex systems like buildings, software, and education are composed of interconnected layers that change at different speeds. I will link it below for anyone to check out. Josh, thanks for being active in the UX of EdTech community! #ux #edtech #design
