Was a stimulating day! Lots of interesting conversations and nice meetings/encounters 🤩 The current status of the market seems to be currently awaiting investments and exercising caution regarding hiring. Having said that many are currently planning to strengthen growth with talent in the near future. 🤓 In addition there seems to be an appetite in improving the employee lifecycle regarding employer branding, onboarding and retention efforts. Many are not sure how to approach these topics but recognize the importance. 💯 #energyweek #networking #insights Intelligent Employment

Michele Stirling, from Alberta`s very own Friends of Science is once again speaking truth to power. "January 12, 2024, is the day decarbonization died in Alberta. People with EVs were caught out as the cars couldn’t hold a charge and could only get half the range, as Global News reported." https://lnkd.in/gGfjvm_T #abpoli #cdnpoli #canadianenergy #albertaenergy #climateemergency #climateeducation #windpower #solarpower #gridstability #gridreliability #powergeneration #oilandgasindustry

This is the reality of trying to achieve net zero with current technology and some advanced thinking. We need to be really thinking outside of cure constraints to go forward. Nuclear is a huge part of that.
Chairman of the Board Of Directors at Touchstone Exploration Inc., Alvopetro Energy Ltd., and Grounded Lithium Corp.
Currently out at our cabin trying to help out our heat pumps (we run three geothermal units and they are running full out with auxiliary/ supplemental heating coils engaged). We have two propane fireplaces burning full time in addition to all the firewood that we're also splitting and burning, and all of the burners on the cooktop are on. It's probably about +12.5° C inside here vs -36°C outside. Everyone seems to ignore the fact that heat pumps are a huge draw on the power grid. Our power bill could easily be $1500.00 to $2000.00 for January. The deep thinkers at BC Hydro employ an escalating power price grid that charges you more for higher consumption levels, while at the same time encouraging you to electrify your life. We went with the geothermal system partly out of necessity, partly to be ahead of the curve, and, if I'm honest, partly to appear virtuous. It was one of the worst investment decisions I've made (to-date!), and it has only worsened over time. We've replaced two of the three units (price that out if you're curious), and the system has never performed to design spec. By the way, the power consumption and poor performance is the same in the summer when it is +36°C here. This article makes this point and highlights many other fantasies about our true net zero future. It's time for some rational and decisive action on this.

I have been telling you so since the last ten years, but you never listened and arrogantly turned your arrogant white climate activist faces at my brown skin warning you of the intended consequences of your folly to digest from fossil fuels, and not offer me a viable equivalent alternative. Oh, I said my brown skin, because the climate change movement is institutionally racist and privileged. I warned you days will come when the raw materials supplier countries will control the supply chain for going green, and finally Western Africa is taking control. Bad news for us in the west, who are being cajoled and coerced into accepting this green Ponzi scam, of benefit only to the WEF cohort of companies, and never any benefit to the tax paying public. Oh, by the way, now that industry is divesting from fossil fuels, how will your wind solar and electric get made without burning fossil fuels in the manufacturing process? Why did you never bother to consider this important step? Well, you have now no functioning renewables due to no back up energy source, but you also have no oil neither Oh well, I told you so, and so you shall reap what you sow.

Shocking….. please stop creating this mess….. electric power must be ample and always available. Service first, and do it the best way considering all aspects, not just the blind lemming run of zero carbon… https://lnkd.in/eR7qssbi
