AI FROM A GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE: Germany created a Study Commission on “Artificial Intelligence Social Responsibility and Economic, Social and Ecological Potential.” This Study Commission will investigate how AI and algorithmic decision-making will affect society. It is made up of 19 Members of Parliament and 19 AI experts. We expect the Committee to produce reports with policy recommendations. 🚀 AI Power in Europe: Mistral vs. Aleph Alpha 🤖💡 In just 10 months, Mistral AI from Paris has successfully challenged the big US firms in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI). With an AI model that even surpasses OpenAI's ChatGPT, Mistral has proven that Europe can keep up in AI. On the other hand, the German start-up Aleph Alpha, despite receiving significant funding of nearly half a billion euros in November, seems to be lagging behind in the competition. Their language model Luminous may considered as outdated. The two companies pursue different strategies: Mistral focuses on direct competition for the most powerful AI language model and has already formed partnerships with companies like Microsoft. Aleph Alpha, on the other hand, offers a "holistic AI transformation," focusing on domain-specific language models and enjoys broad support from German industrial companies and local venture capitalists.
