What is the impact of technology on shared mobility and the importance of a collaborative approach? 🤝 Rainer Becker, Director Business Development at #MOIA, discussed this question with four other experts on a panel at the Autonomy Mobility World Expo last week. They explored new trends, challenges and opportunities in creating efficient, inclusive and green shared transportation systems, and emphasized the role of cross-sector collaboration. It was an exciting conversation from which we would like to share three reasons of why autonomous driving could be the solution in #mobility: 💡Road Safety: Since the introduction of autonomous mobility services, there has been research, that the number of accidents per mile driven in San Francisco is less than those of human drivers. 💡 Flexibility: Mobility demand can be met exactly when and where it is needed. 💡 Price: Scaled autonomous services will lead to reduced prices for customers. At the Autonomy, we learned about many innovative approaches to mobility solutions in Europe with more than 250 exhibitors. You can read more about this in our Autonomy recap! 👉 https://lnkd.in/ecddHygG #AMWE2024 #SharedMobility #UrbanTransport

How to make cities smarter and safer for everyone? 🚶♀️🚗🚲 Holger Caesar, Jason K. Moore and their students developed the TU Delft SenseBike - a bicycle equipped with the same advanced sensors used in autonomous vehicles, including cameras, lidars, GPS, and inertia measurement units. 📹 By cycling through the city, the SenseBike creates a detailed map of urban spaces in real-time and collects valuable close-up data on cyclist behavior. This helps to improve algorithms of automated cars and to design safer intersections for cyclists. Check it out 👇 #mechanicalengineering #technology #mobility Intelligent Vehicles group | TU Delft

"Self-driving cars are underhyped." We have stopped talking about a transformative change whose potential impacts on our communities will exceed the impacts of universal auto access following World War II: the advent of autonomous mobility. We failed to plan for the impacts of universal auto access and have lived with the results for more than six decades. Shame on us if we repeat this mistake. Planned right, autonomous mobility will be a powerful tool for shaping more livable, accessable, economically competitive, resilient, and equitable communities--think more vibrant downtowns powered by walkable density that doesn't require expensive structured parking. Left unplanned, the impact of autonomous mobility may well be communities mired in yet more sprawl. The US automobilit fleet turns over every 15 years. Our window of opportunity will open is starting now. https://lnkd.in/ejCH4Fnj
