How could architects change the way they are paid from how much they build to how much they avoid building? What kind of financing, warranties and building regulations do we need for buildings to last 1,000 years? How could building materials be taxed to prioritise reuse, renewables and recycling over extraction? Sweden's built environment sector knows it needs to transition towards climate neutrality. But does it share an idea of what a genuinely sustainable, regenerative built environment sector would look like? The Futures We Build is calling for three interdisciplinary teams to create visions that can encourage and support the built environment sector in Sweden to transition towards new ways of working, organising and building a sustainable, enriching and inclusive future. Up to 500,000kr funding is available to each team alongside support, training, mentoring and sessions with an advisory board which I am pleased to be part of. The Futures We Build is organized by Media Evolution as part of Sweden’s ’Smart Built Environment’ strategic innovation programme with funding from Vinnova, Swedish Energy Agency & Formas, a Swedish Research Council for Sustainable Development. Application deadline March 31. Download the request for applications at: https://lnkd.in/dpEpSeYp
