All or nothing thinking is when we view situations in extremes, seeing things as either perfect or a complete failure. For instance, if we don't achieve a goal perfectly, we might perceive it as a total failure. However, life is rarely black and white. Embracing the gray areas allows for growth and learning from setbacks, rather than being discouraged by them. When you're grappling with loss, the idea of moving forward can feel overwhelming. Yet, setting goals and building a future requires taking one step at a time, acknowledging that the journey may be tough but it's not impossible. Start small – maybe it's just getting out of bed or reconnecting with a friend. As you gradually regain your footing, consider envisioning the future you want. What are those little things that used to bring a smile to your face? Setting achievable goals, whether it's pursuing a hobby, learning something new, or focusing on your well-being, can serve as beacons of hope. The future might look different than what you originally planned, but it can still be filled with purpose and meaning. It's not about forgetting the past, but rather honoring it by creating a future that resonates with the strength you've discovered in the process. Joanna Lepore offered an excellent post on why she had more men agreeing to appear on her podcast than women - and a lot of it comes down to the fact that women get judged for self-promoting. I know many competent professional women who privately complain about this, but I feel pretty useless because I never have anything helpful to say. FINALLY I can give some helpful advice. Joanna linked an article on research that showed that the secret to avoiding the competent/likeable tradeoff was dual promotion. That is, sharing credit with others while highlighting your own achievements. It makes you likeable and competent at the same time. It makes so much sense! AND, it helps other people too. THANK YOU! Also, it works for men. 😉 #Marketresearch #Insights #gendergap
