It's time to set the record straight with some essential myths and facts! ❌ Myth: AIBDs are caused by an allergic reaction. ✅ Fact: AIBDs are autoimmune conditions, not allergic reactions. Treatment for diverticulitis typically involves a combination of rest, a clear liquid diet, and a course of antibiotics to address inflammation or infection. In more severe cases or if complications arise, hospitalization may be necessary for intravenous antibiotic therapy and close monitoring. In certain instances, surgery may be recommended to address complications or recurrent episodes of diverticulitis. (In picture: My worried son accompanied me to hospital for IV treatment during weekend) Small wins from the past 1.5 months: - Body weight drop of 12kg. - Quit smoking successfully. - Accepted a lifestyle of balanced diet and regular exercise. It was a 13 days stay in hospital that started off with a flu with recurring high fever, worsened to shortness of breath and chest pain. After 3 days of diagnosis, found out to be a nasty infection that required Thoracoscopic surgery to flush out pus filled chest cavity (Pleural Empyema), 2 chest tubes installed for 7 days to drain out excessive blood and fluid after surgery. Followed by additional 30 daily visit to hospital to administrate strong antibiotic to ensure infection is totally cleared. (Total 43 days of hospitalization leave given, already half way into it, 2 more weeks to full recovery). Luckily this time was a recoverable illness, with proper risk management and controls, there should be another 15-20 years of quality and useful life ahead for me. Health is the greatest gift!
