Team Leadership Story of Alex Mwaura In this inspiring Podcast episode we delve into the rich mosaic of leadership experiences and insights from Alex Mwaura, a distinguished humanitarian and development worker in Kenya. Mwaura's journey, marked by resilience, responsibility, and a transformative approach, offers a vivid narrative of the nuances of leadership within an African context and its global relevance. As the Country Director for Food for the Hungry, Inc. in Kenya, Mwaura brings over two decades of experience in various developmental roles to the table. From his early days as program director, regional coordinator, and operations manager to his impactful tenure at Samaritan's Purse and Food for the Hungry, Mwaura's career is a testament to his dedication to humanitarian causes. His innovative solutions, like installing water ATMs in rural Kenya, showcase his commitment to sustainable and tension-free resource management. Mwaura's leadership ethos is profoundly personal and rooted in early life experiences, including shouldering responsibilities after his father's passing, and learning hard lessons in accountability from incidents like losing goats in the bush. These formative experiences shaped his understanding of resilience, a quality he deems vital for leaders facing challenges such as securing funding and adapting to community needs. Mwaura's leadership acumen shone through in Marsabit, Kenya, as he collaborated with a water committee to introduce groundbreaking water collection and management technology. His work with women's savings groups highlights his commitment to building community resilience, especially during hardships like droughts. Central to Mwaura's philosophy is the importance of teamwork in surmounting complex challenges and cultivating a nurturing organizational culture. He emphasizes creating an environment where diversity is celebrated and teamwork is valued, fostering a joyful, friendly, and supportive workplace. Drawing inspiration from relational leaders throughout his career, Mwaura prioritizes caring for people and maintaining a human touch while achieving effectiveness. He also stresses the need for personal growth and sharpness in leadership through practices like listening, reading, and prayer. Mwaura's leadership narrative is about leading effectively and showing love and intent. He urges leaders to focus on leaving a legacy, preparing for the future, and making a mark that endures beyond their lifetime. Leadership & Communication Coach. Creator of StoryPowerMasterClass.com where leaders learn to TELL BETTER STORIES BETTER
LEADERS REQUIRE RELATIONSHIPS EVEN WHEN ISOLATION IS SAFER “The more a leader trusts people, the more risk they take and the more vulnerable they become. A leader with an enormous circle of friends is a leader at risk. Watch any suspenseful drama you wish from Avengers to Minions from Yellow Stone to Tulsa King and you will see leaders who are constantly testing the veracity of their inner circle. Who shot JR? Who betrayed Kennedy? Who killed Mufasa? It’s always those closest to leadership who can inflict the worst pain. We like to think they won’t. We’re likely to think having close friends and associates is risky business. Why build an inner circle? Why cultivate friendships and mentorships when there is so much to lose? Watch the video…” Watch the video 6-10-24: Listen to "LEADERS REQUIRE RELATIONSHIPS EVEN WHEN ISOLATION IS SAFER" by Leading Leaders Podcast with J Loren Norris - Where leaders learn to tell better stories better. https://lnkd.in/gUrhjEKm Leading Leaders Podcast w J Loren Norris (Tell It Like It Is, Inc)

A few months ago, I had my first experience recording a podcast. 🎙️ We talked about #leadership, with Olga Dudko. 🙌 Exciting experience; I would say an #adventure. 😉 Honoured to have been first in what then became a very inspiring series.👍 🎧I heard this podcast again, recently, and it triggered good memories… 😌memories of trying things out for the first time, 💡and of more recent experiences which resonate perfectly with my thoughts back then. 🎙️If I recorded the podcast today, fundamentals would remain, and new anecdotes would arise. However, some things change. There’s always change. Leadership evolves. 👉It evolves with time, 👉with context, 👉with the roles, 👉with the needs, 👉with the stakes. Who wouldn’t expect leadership, and leaders, to adapt and evolve?🏅 What is "a constant", when it comes to #leadership needs? https://lnkd.in/es8RS4Av

I recently visited with andy vasily on an episode of his human-centric podcast, Run Your Life. We spoke deeply, as only two humans can, about the Heart of Life and Leadership. We are complex; countless experiences, immeasurable emotions, umpteen relationships, multiple "arenas" of life. We may think that we're successfully separating our work lives from our personal lives or hiding what's happening in one from the other, but in reality, that's impossible. Experiences and emotions in one arena collide with other arenas. Our lived experiences live in our systems; there's no way to separate them. We may dial up or dial down what we share and what we don't, but our thoughts, beliefs, instincts, and insights show up, regardless of which arena we are in. If you think you're concealing your experience - convincing others that things are tickety-boo when they're not, think again. What we choose to share with others impacts how we show up and affects our relationships. As importantly, what we choose to hide or diminish also impacts our relationships. I share from my heart and the times that I'm sure I've hidden or concealed my lived experience, I guarantee the other party is seeing me and wondering, what's really here? In my conversation with Andy, I share my deeply personal experiences with the collisions I experience every day. Learning to show grace to myself and to others - because we'll never know what someone else is truly going through - has been one of the most human things I've ever learned. In listening, I hope you find grace for yourself and those in your life who need it. Find it here: https://lnkd.in/g7dGmXh5
Leadership/Performance Coach, Podcaster and Educational Consultant. My podcast brings on inspiring leaders from professional sports, education, & health & wellness to unpack what striving for excellence means.
My guest today is the brilliant and inspiring Ila Edgar, a leadership development coach and trust-builder for organizations and businesses. As well, Ila co-hosts the fantastic podcast called Trust on Purpose with her mentor and good friend Charles Feltman. Ila's story is a testament to the resilience we all require when challenged by life’s mental and emotional obstacles. She deeply believes that who we are is how we lead and that being great leaders starts with us. It also requires honesty, looking inside of ourselves and committing to making real changes in our lives. In our conversation today, we talk about early days in her life, the strengths she developed and the challenges she had to overcome that ultimately led her on to the path of leadership coaching. In addition to this, we also cover the themes of resilience, self-compassion, knowing our own boundaries, and embracing vulnerability as keys to our own growth and learning. Most importantly, Ila opens up about serious health struggles she is currently going through and not only what this has taught her about herself, but how it has also helped to shape her journey as a wife, mother and coach. As you listen to this episode today, you will see that there is no doubt that Ila is meant to do the work she is doing to serve the world. She is one of a kind and I feel so very fortunate to have had this time with her on the podcast. This was a really touching episode for me. I hope you find the same value in it as I did. Thanks for listening and please connect with Ila and let her know what you learned from our discussion. She would love to hear from you.
