I got a question if this work with illustrations. Here are the results. It’s insane. Hollywood production quality is here. It is such a leverage - you can record your emotions and transfer to any illustration and it works with many styles. Here are some insights from the testing: ✅ It works better if you match the angle of the driving video with the illustration. ❎ It doesn’t work with really simplistic 2D-style illustrations. The model can not detect the faces. Do you speak character design? We all intuitively know when a character looks flat on a page. Something just doesn’t feel right! Beyond getting the physical anatomy correct, there are some key design principles that we can refer to when analyzing a character. Does your character have the right shape language? Think Pixar. Circle is friendly, safe and innocent. Square is often strong, stable, and a bit boring. Triangle is excitement, danger, and angry or intense emotion. Like in graphic design, we can also consider other basic visual principles: balance and contrast, symmetry and asymmetry, color, scale, repetition, and rhythm. All of these are tools in our illustrator’s box of tricks to breathe life and energy into a character. I highly recommend “Fundamentals of Character Design” by Randy Bishop, Sweeney Boo, Meybus Ruiz Cruz, and Luis Gadea, if you want to dig deeper.
