In my recent conversation with Becker's Healthcare, we discussed the critical role Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs) play in our healthcare system. As the founder and CEO of Gain, I've seen firsthand the challenges ASCs face. At Gain, we believe in simplifying the management of personal injury cases, providing ASCs with a vital source of reimbursement and ensuring greater access to care for those in need. It's alarming to consider that 100 million Americans, 30 million of whom are uninsured, have less than four weeks of savings. For those injured through no fault of their own, access to quality care becomes a significant challenge. Serving personal injury patients on lien not only fulfills a moral obligation but also represents a premium reimbursement source for ASCs. It's a strategy that can help counter the declining reimbursements we're seeing across the board. High-demand surgical specialties are reshaping ASC valuations and attracting investor interest. Roughly 15 to 20 years ago we saw a similar growth trend around Urgent Care Centers. Urgent Care Centers served as a patient care gap between Primary Care and Emergency Care. As both Primary Care and Emergency Care schedules began to fill-up causing primary care visit to be schedule two days to a week in advance and emergency wait time in the hours, Urgent Care provided a hybrid care right away 7 days week. According to a CNN article written by Nathaniel Meyersohn in 2023, A record 11,150 urgent care centers have popped up around the United States and they are growing at 7% a year. And now 20 years later we will see a same need with similar growth in ASC for similar reasons, lower cost, shorter wait time and better financing. ➰ A gastroenteroenterologist's challenge: piecemealing the likeliest history of present illness from endoscopic findings bc most patients don't have their medical records, operative reports, nor a full understanding of what was done with their GI tract. 👀 Countless hours are spent by staff (& myself) submitting signed records release forms, calling, waiting for faxes & even snail-mailed reports that are often incomplete or non-existent... this is what they call: #physicianburnout #emr --it's not burnout, it's bad healthcare. ☑️ Please include patients reports with your referrals to specialists. It makes the essence of a complete consult.... 💡STAT PEARL: Please insist on receiving your complete Op/Procedure Reports, as well as any/all imaging & pathology reports-- preferably in color... & not just the physician's impression, but their actual findings. Future examinations will be much more precise if your clinicians know the whole story. 💯 THANK YOU, @endocollabcom for all you do!!! I wish I'd seen more of these when I started scoping 10 to 20 patients a week in my early beginnings!!!
