🚀 Second Place in Just One Night! 🥈✨ 2 weeks ago, I jumped into a hackathon #ImpactX by #Code4Hope at the last minute—while others had 3 full days, I had just one night to build my project. And guess what? I still managed to secure #2nd place! 🎯 I get that this #hackathon was not filled with #experienced people but with students (<18), but the others were in teams with more time, and I was alone with a night to submit the #project 📝. Forget about the #second #position; I am proud 😊 to have completed the #project I thought of in such limited time ⌛. This hackathon seems pretty easy, seeing the low number of participants. However, it was a different and tough #experience submitting the project at the last second. I can't explain my situation at midnight, where I was fighting with the #deadline 🥶. I made CourseVerse, an AI course generator #mobile #application 📱. User can set multiple parameters to generate a course that they are looking for 🏫. Galatea AI aims to tackle the male loneliness epidemic at the University of Waterloo, where many male students feel apprehensive about approaching girls despite desiring intimate relationships. Unlike apps like Replika and Dream GF, which often focus on profit through customizable AI companions, Galatea AI strives for genuine connections. Shortcomings of Current AI Girlfriend Apps: - Complete Customizability: I see complete customizability as a weakness as it would allow users to fully customize their companion, which can lead to exploitation. For example, Replika lets users select facial features, hair, body proportions, and clothing for their AI companion. This level of customization can result in the sexualization and objectification of females. It also means the AI girlfriend lacks any real character, becoming more of a toy or digital plastic mannequin for the user. This does not teach respect or healthy relationship dynamics, as it centers on imposing the user's will on the character. - Pay to Love: These apps often charge premiums for what should be a basic human need. They are incentivized to keep users addicted to a superficial and materialistic idea of love. Such would allow the user to use the app and charge subscription. Galatea AI's Approach: Named after the statue created by Pygmalion, Galatea AI offers "Agentic Girlfriends" crafted as art projects by an artist known on site as a "Pygmalion Acolyte". Users swipe through Agentic girlfriend profiles as if on a dating site, with the possibility of rejection to discourage unhealthy matches and have the user understand themselves better. The goal is to foster meaningful relationships rather than transactional interactions. Ultimate Goal: The ultimate aim of Galatea AI is to psychologically condition the Uwaterloo male student body to feel comfortable approaching human woman. This approach is akin to training simulations that prepare individuals for real-life scenarios, helping students build confidence and social skills. Excited to share our journey at DevJams, a 48-hour hackathon hosted by GDSC during Gravitas VIT's Annual Tech Fest! Our team developed sync’d, a platform designed to empower college students through better academic organization and collaboration.👩💻 Key Features of sync’d: •Personalized Profiles: Post doubts, seek help, and connect with peers. •To-Do List: Organize tasks, set goals, and track progress. •Recapped : Gain insights into productivity and reflect on study sessions. •Take/Give Help: Foster collaboration through peer support. •Take a Break Feed: Share experiences and build community support. This experience challenged us to think creatively, work under tight deadlines, and collaborate effectively. We’re proud to have created a tool that promotes productivity and collaboration while addressing common student challenges. 🌟 First Hackathon Experience: A Journey to the Finals! 🌟 Thrilled to share that my team and I reached the final round in our very first hackathon, despite starting with just front-end development knowledge! 🎉 We developed Redrise, a unique platform aimed at raising awareness about AIDS. Unlike traditional informational websites, Redrise takes an interactive and impactful approach: ✨ Interactive Quizzes: Educating users in an engaging way. 🤖 AI Chatbot Integration: Powered by Chatbase.ai to address users' questions about AIDS. 🩺 AIDS Risk Predictor Tool: Assesses user risk and, if needed, provides the nearest AIDS clinic locations via Google Maps API. 📰 News Section: Keeping users updated on the latest research and developments. 🛍️ Shopping for a Cause: A portion of every purchase supports AIDS communities. This journey was a huge learning experience, from brainstorming to building features that could make a real-world impact. It’s been amazing to work with such a talented and motivated team, and I’m proud of what we accomplished together! I am extremely excited to share that I participated in 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻𝗖𝗿𝗼𝗽'𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗻 and earned 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 place and the 𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱. I created an AI-powered educational help app named '𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗚𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿'. It is a chat tool that allows students to submit PDFs of research papers, articles, and question-and-answer formats. This not only accelerates learning, but also helps students quickly understand, remember, and engage with difficult research materials, improving their capacity to grasp and retain crucial knowledge.  I'd also like to thank the Devpost platform through which I learned about this hackathon.
