You should still apply for a job, even when you're not 100% qualified for it. One day, you find a perfect opening that you would love to apply for. However, it asks for 2-3 years of experience, but you only have ONE. You fail to tick every single box of requirements in the job descriptions too. So you tell yourself, "I'm not qualified for this, there's no use applying." BIG MISTAKE. When you meet 100% of the qualifications for a job: - You won't be challenged - You won't have room to grow - You will get bored and frustrated very soon Don't settle for that 'perfect match'. Instead, do not hesitate to apply for jobs which you're excited about, even when you only meet 60%-80% of the quals. WHY? - It's highly unlikely that any candidate will meet every single of the criteria - The work will be challenging and that's how you'll learn & grow - There's no harm in applying Don't allow imposter syndrome or a lack of self-confidence to stop you from getting the job you deserve. You'll never know if you have a chance unless you take that chance.

Just this evening, a new HR friend was telling me market is not going to hire candidates with less than the "years" experience to the higher vacancy. I have other thoughts for this, I don't think managerial level shall only fill with "years" of experience candidates, because: 1. If candidate A have the same position lets say Executive is having the similar Job Description for the past lets say 7 years, with no impactful improvement or no growth in her work quality and not much of work challenge. She's working on her own all this while, with no growth of team member. Does she really qualify for Manager level just because of her 7 years experience? 2. If candidate B have the same position lets say Executive for 3 years, but she have done several achievements example she build up a HR system in the same company from scratch to something now. She even have an assistant now for better and greater departmental work quality. Does she deserve only a Executive now? Feel free to share your opinions too 😊

I had nearly none of the preferred experience or knowledge of Medi-Cal (Medicaid), or even health insurance at that, when I first applied at Partnership HealthPlan in 2013. Approximately two months after an extremely nervous interview, background check, and offer: I started my first position because someone took a chance on me. Experience/education can *absolutely* be beneficial, and necessary in many positions - I’m probably *not* going to get hired as a heart surgeon though; drive, dedication, an open mind, and ambition can also take you equally as far - maybe even further. An added benefit for your company hiring someone that doesn’t check all, or any, of the boxes: you get to mold them into exactly what you need, and there are little-to-no “bad habits” to break.
