Today we have organized an online AI Symposium at Ampleon to learn what AI is and what it can bring to our work. It was a great succes with 382 online participants globally. Thanks to keynote speakers Qian Tao from Delft University of Technology, Xander Janssen from Itility, and Javed Shams from HSO. Also thanks to our internal presenters: Michel Kemperman, Edwin Orij, and Robbin Damen who shared some general aspects of AI and how they work with big data sets. We ended the symposium, inspired by all the talks, with an interactive breakout session to brainstorm on new use cases to be further explored in the company. "A stroll along Artificial Intelligence" was the title of a general-audience talk I gave last week about AI at the new beautiful TWIST building of STATEC! I first reviewed the fascinating history of #ArtificialIntelligence, focusing on the main highlights. Next I defined what #AI is, and how its subfields such as #MachineLearning, #DeepLearning and #GenerativeAI are related. Various concrete examples were shown, challenges as well as risks related to AI discussed, and a potential outlook on the future given. The overall goal was to somewhat demystify the buzzword AI.
