We would like to thank all the participations that gathered last week at the SDG Meetings: Future in Action! 👉🏼 On our website, you can find all the event content that you can easily access to complete your participation: https://lnkd.in/dMNEAb-g The event gathered representatives from Large, Medium, and Small Companies, as well as representatives from the public sector and other public and private entities. At the opening, Filipe Santos, Dean of Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics, spoke about the urgency of the environmental and social agendas, the importance of sustainability for the competitiveness of companies, and the need for pragmatism to implement the actions necessary to advance the Sustainable Development Agenda. Next, Filipa Pires de Almeida, Deputy Director of our Center, presented the activities of the Observatory of the SDGs in Portuguese companies  within the scope of Year 2 of the project and explained the evolution of the data collection phase (in progress). She also revealed the three studies that will be incorporated into the Year 3 report: - Balancing Profit and Purpose: The strategic integration of the Sustainable Development Goals for corporate success, which was published on the same day as the event and can be consulted at https://lnkd.in/dUDSGXMc  - Governance: Strategic alignment with Sustainability; to be published in the next two weeks - Sustainability Reports: Incorporation and strategic communication of the SDGs. After the presentations, participants participated in three workshops where different topics were discussed, followed by practical exercises on the Business Case of the SDGs, the Governance process, and the connection with Sustainability and Double Materiality Analysis, from ESG to SDGs. The last moment of the event was a round table where the theme “Accelerating the Goals: Tech for SDG Achievement” was moderated by Margarida Anselmo, Partner at maze impact. This round table was attended by David Veloso, Director of Sustainability at Hospital da Luz, Rui Solheiro, Innovation & Business Development Manager at MEXT: Mota-Engil Next, Bruno Abreu, co-founder & CEO of SCUBIC - Smart Software Solutions, and Filipe Machado, Chief Engineering, Marketing and R&D Officer at boome.world. Nuno Moreira da Cruz, Executive Director of the Center for Responsible Business and Leadership, closed the event, reminding participants of the progress that the topic of Sustainability is making in the business context and the fundamental importance of “implementation.” We thank everyone who was with us at this event, and we hope to see you soon at the launch of the Year 3 Report in November 2024! https://lnkd.in/d54S4_Tc

I am so proud to be associated with this company. A company that continues to set the bar high not only in product quality but also in sustainability practices and corporate citizenship. Twenty years ago I was attracted by the visionary leadership and exceptional products. However, as I learned more about how they do business, and were voluntarily committing to sustainable practices, way, way before it became a regulatory requirement, I was sold. This is a company that was not forced to change to meet Government requirements. It led the way. Of course one of the most pressing environmental challenges for a nutritional company is - - so many plastic bottles! USANA has taken proactive steps to minimise its environmental footprint in this area. The bottles have been made smaller to reduce the amount of plastic used, they are made with 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material and in most markets are all recyclable. Simply remove the label, and if applicable, the pump mechanisms before putting into the recycle bin.
