I’ve been published! My article Child Recrutiment as a Response to Armed Group Desertions has been published as part of the 11th edition of the Pax et Bellum Journal. Here, I explore the relationship between increased desertions from armed groups in Colombia and their child recruitment practices in the years 2010-2021. I would like to give a special thank you to Meri Mentula and the rest of the team at P&BJ for considering my work and for all their support throughout the editing process. You can find the article under the DOI: https://lnkd.in/eYqshJzc
📢 The 11th edition of the Pax et Bellum Journal is now available! 🕊️ We are excited to announce the launch of the 11th edition of the Pax et Bellum Journal! The issue showcases four articles, spanning various disciplines and methodologies within peace and conflict studies. Read it now: https://lnkd.in/e8HyPM3K Congratulations to the authors: Greta M. Excited to share our latest research: "Balanced Hill Climbing Weight Algorithm with Diversity (BHWEAD)" 🚀. Grateful to my co-authors for their hard work and collaboration. 👏 Our approach combines elements of classic Genetic Algorithms and Differential Evolution to tackle complex optimization problems effectively. Highlights of BHWEAD include: - Novel and robust algorithm with a mechanism that finely balances exploration and exploitation stages ⚖️. - BHWEAD utilizes a basic GA structure with straightforward evolutionary operators, ensuring ease of implementation and flexibility for diverse applications 🛠️. - Leveraging Hill Climbing to adeptly manage the influence of evolutionary operators, allowing precise modification of solutions 🏔️. - Employing a diversity control strategy, BHWEAD adeptly navigates complex problems, evading the pitfalls of premature convergence to suboptimal solutions 🌟. Tested against CEC2017 benchmark functions and real-world engineering problems, BHWEAD has demonstrated superior performance, showcasing its potential for high-dimensional optimization tasks.
Our recent article, "Handling the balance of operators in evolutionary algorithms through a weighted Hill Climbing approach," has just been published in the Journal of Knowledge-based Systems. You can access it at the following link: https://lnkd.in/gRcpWxkd Thanks to all the coauthors for their efforts. Erick Rodríguez Esparza
