Explore The Geometry of Concepts in LLMs Studies the geometry of categorical concepts and how the hierarchical relations between them are encoded in LLMs. Finding from the paper: "Simple categorical concepts are represented as simplices, hierarchically related concepts are orthogonal in a sense we make precise, and (in consequence) complex concepts are represented as polytopes constructed from direct sums of simplices, reflecting the hierarchical structure." arxiv.org/abs/2406.01506 This paper sounds fascinating! The geometric representation of concepts in LLMs is a brilliant way to understand their inner workings.

I should have described this paper, co-written with Arnab Priya Saha (whose initials are aptly APS and the paper was also published in PRL, APS) a bit. We were searching for a way to do the S-matrix bootstrap in a manner that admits mass-level truncation but still enabled "stringiness" in the results. Quite serendipitously, we landed on new formulas for pi (yes that 22/7 thingy) and Zeta functions. The formula for pi, in particular, belongs to an infinite family of formulas which includes in them the famous Madhava series, the first series representation of pi that was ever written down (by the 14th century Indian mathematician, Madhava).

We have a new devlog on Exographer. Like absolutely everything else in the game, the Natitans are directly inspired by science. In this case by real scientists, whose names have been changed. More than 80 characters inspired by actual scientist, and a timeline spanning more than 220 years. Each entry in their logbook corresponds to a real event in scientific life. Discover all details about the alien civilization in Exographer on our Steam page. https://lnkd.in/dVshxsQw

📢 On the occasion of may 1st and labor day below you can find a free access link to my recent preprint (written together with Tomasz Bochacik) on convergence and stability of randomized implicit two-stage Runge-Kutta schemes for approximate solving of ODEs 😊 https://lnkd.in/d-AQSm9C In aprticular, comparing to the deterministic schemes, we observed a new interesting phenomenon: the two-stage randomized RK scheme is A-stable asymptotically and in probability but not in the mean-square sense.
