⚡️ The United States Marine Corps has tested the low-rate initial production model of the Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS) in Arizona. Held at the US Army Yuma Proving Ground (USAYPG), the test validated two MADIS platforms in a live-fire trial with simulated battlefield scenarios against launched drones. Each was mounted aboard Joint Light Tactical Vehicles, with the first acting as a detector and the other for neutralization. The agency wrote that the demonstration concluded with the weapons being able to track and defeat multiple targets using Stingers and a 30-millimeter cannon. “MADIS can complete the entire kill chain, and we witness that during this event,” Ground Based Air Defense Program Manager Andrew Konicki said. “The importance of countering [unmanned aerial system] threats cannot be overstated. We see it all over the news. MADIS is the key. We’re excited to get this out to Marines.” 👉 Full story: https://lnkd.in/ep9ScyHA #military #technology #innovation #defense #defence #defenseindustry #defenceindustry #usmarines #usmarinecorps #usmc #airdefense #airdefence #madis #drones #counterdrone #cuas #uas

What form must you fill out to declare Jihad on a magazine? First, "Simple Flying" magazine lists the vaunted RC-135/RIVET JOINT as an "Airborne Early Warning and Control Aircraft." That alone would require an entire case of whiskey to atone for at Offutt, Waddington, Mildenhall or Kadena. Then, the author puts the vaunted RC-135 BELOW the E-3 and the A-Freakin'-50. I know the Air Force must have a form for Jihad Declaration. Can anyone help? Methinks they should change the name of that magazine to "Simpleton Flying." #ALONEANDUNARMED

Seasoned security professional with extensive experience in corporate & physical security operations & management across APAC & ME.
The Republic of Singapore AirForce's Island Air Defence (IAD) system provides a multi-layered, networked & intelligent air defence round the clock islandwide. The IAD system integrates advanced sensors, weapon systems, command & control elements, & decision-making tools to protect Singapore against a wide spectrum of air threats. It includes ground-based air defence systems such as the ASTER-30 Missile System & SPYDER & sensors such as the Multi-Mission Radar, all of which work together as a system-of-systems. Singapore obviously isn't gonna get surprised. Terrorists are learning all the time & drones are easily available. There are enough examples of countries being successfully attacked by drones. The effective range of a RPG warhead used to be about 300 metres but thanks to the innovative Ukranian warfighters using unconventional warfare & improvisation, the range has increased to over 10km.

The Army Reprogramming Analysis Team (ARAT) supports mobilization training for radar signal detection installed in Apache helicopters. This includes providing aviator training of actual indications of threat radars in the cockpit by use of a Radar Signal Simulator (RSS). The RSS detects hostile electronic warfare (EW) signatures, giving the aviator advanced warning of missile and anti-aircraft gun systems. #Readiness | #armystrong | #beallyoucanbe

Germany Allocates €1.2 Billion for Short-Range Air Defense Capability The German government has received approval from lawmakers to spend €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion) on a new short-range air defense capability based on the Diehl Defence-made IRIS-T missile. The funding will cover the integration of short- and medium-range interceptors on the Boxer vehicle, radar, and command-and-control equipment. This initiative addresses a capability gap in protecting deployed forces against drones, missiles, and aircraft since the retirement of key air-defense platforms in the mid-2000s. The prototype of the new capability is expected to be completed by 2028. Additionally, Germany plans to purchase a cannon-based weapon, potentially Rheinmetall's Skyranger, to counter low-flying threats. #Germany #AirDefense #MilitaryTechnology #DefenseSpending

The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has reportedly acquired a new Erieye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft based on the Saab 2000. The recently acquired aircraft was given the serial “23058”. It was presented during a ceremony that marked the introduction of various aircraft types, including Chengdu J-10CE Dragon multirole fighters, former Belgian Air Force C-130H Hercules, and other logistics and auxiliary aircraft. The Saab Erieye features an active electronically scanned array (AESA) system, with a detection range of up to 450 km. It is capable of transmitting its sensor data to friendly air and ground assets through data-link connectivity. The five mission operator consoles within the Erieye AEW&C system enable operators to coordinate between the AEW&C and connected air assets, such as fighter aircraft. The acquisition of the ‘23058’ has expanded the PAF’s Erieye fleet to seven, with public records indicating serials for eight active units. Until now, the PAF has acquired the Erieye through three separate orders. Initially, PAF signed its first order in 2006 for six AEW&Cs (plus one standard Saab 2000) for $1.15 billion. However, the order was reduced to four due to the devastating earthquake of 2005. Following the adjustments, the cost for the Erieye decreased to $186 million. It means that each unit, excluding training and logistics costs, was priced at $93 million in 2007. Three out of these four aircraft were damaged during a terrorist attack on Minhas Air Base five years later in 2012. It led to the write-off of one of them. Two of these returned to service in 2015 and 2015 after being internally restored by the PAF. The Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) in its 2015-2016 yearbook revealed the “recovery” of a “fourth AEW&C system” at a cost of $130.39 million US. PAF’s Erieye AEW&C fleet was restored to four aircraft by 2016. The Air Headquarters (AHQ) in 2017 placed an order for an additional three Erieye AEW&C aircraft, as revealed by the then PAF Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman. In an announcement in 2016, Saab disclosed receiving an AEW&C order worth $132 million, followed by a $153 million order in 2017. The combined cost amounted to $285 million US. The delivery of the ‘Batch-II’ Erieye AEW&Cs was recorded in public export-import logs. In February 2017 as well as in April and May 2018, the PAF received radar systems and aircraft from Saab. The Ministry of Defence Production (MoDP) recorded the purchase of a ‘sixth’ Erieye AEW&C in its 2017-2018 yearbook for $94.95 million. This order, part of the ‘Batch-II,’ was likely concluded in 2019. Saab announced a new AEW&C sale worth $160.5 million from an unnamed buyer in May 2020, with deliveries taking place between 2020 and 2023. Later, the customer was revealed to be the PAF as it inducted Erieye aircraft with the serial numbers ‘20-057’ and, in December 2023, ‘23-058.’ #Pakistan #airforce #aircraft #LatestNews #247updatenews #faiqjilani

SAFETY ALERT! Reports suggest Azerbaijan may have unilaterally closed Armenian Airspace following a major escalation in this conflict. There is no update on the EASA CZIB page and I haven't seen any NOTAMs as yet. News reports suggest a major escalation in military activity in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. dyami | security intelligence Osprey Flight Solutions do you have any info on this? This may need sharing urgently. There is a potential for a very high risk to civilian operators in the region - the conflict in 2020 saw widespread use of drones, rockets and missiles, and both sides are equipped with anti-aircraft weaponry and defence systems. This led to airspace closures for safety in previous years. #conflictzone #aviationsafety #aviationnews
