We are thrilled to see the hard work and dedication of our colleagues showcased in this new book, The Educator's Guide to Action Research: Practical Connections for Implementation of Data-Driven Decision-Making. The focus of the book is Action Research (AR)and how educators can engage in data-based decision-making within AR and MTSS. Kudos to Dena Slanda, Ph.D.! And check out the resources highlighted in the book from our colleagues at National Center on Intensive Intervention, the PROGRESS Center, the MTSS Center, and CEEDAR. 🌟 New Article Published! 🌟 📚 Title: "How can a facilitator’s caring approach trigger and deepen pre-service teachers’ reflection on their pedagogical practice? A year-long action research study" 👩🏫 What's It About? Examined how the facilitator, engaging in a caring approach, developed strategies and created circumstances that triggered and deepened the Pre-Service Teachers' (PSTs) reflection on their pedagogical practice. 🔍 Key Findings The reflection of future teachers transitioned from a mindset based on 'what others say' to being able to think for themselves. The creation of a welcoming environment, establishing trusting relationships, and a state of vulnerability, which is not only encouraged but also enacted by the facilitator herself, proved to promote a pedagogical environment where PSTs can express their uncertainties, confront their challenges, and expose their vulnerabilities. All these proved essential in developing the ability to think critically. 📊 Methodology Three action research cycles were carried out, collecting qualitative data through focus group interviews, reflective written journals, and participant observations. 👏 Special Thanks A huge thank you to the fantastic team that made this study possible: Isabel Maria Ribeiro Mesquita, Ana Gracinda Alves Ramos, Rui Manuel Flores Araújo and Carla Sofia Valério Fernandes🌟 📥 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/ddEFscMe

Thank you, Bena - for your kind words of endorsement: "Barbara Smith effectively captures many of the hurdles educators face as they weigh their commitment to stay in the profession. She balances a well-constructed analysis of each critical issue with examples that offer hope for a better future. Her challenging questions guide readers to reflect on their own situations. A close study of this book can provide a blueprint for your next strategic plan!" -- Bena Kallick, co-founder and co-director, Institute for Habits of Mind https://lnkd.in/eaps5nbK

What does it mean to be evidence-based or evidence informed? 5 years ago, we launched the "A (new) manifesto for evidence-based education: twenty years on", and it remains just as relevant today. In a world where educational challenges are more complex than ever, the need for evidence-based approaches to teaching and learning has only grown. Our commitment to improving the quality of education through evidence remains at the core of what we do. Take a moment to revisit the updated Manifesto and see how these ideas continue to shape effective teaching today. Download here 👉 https://hubs.la/Q02KVPvZ0
