How to unlock its full potential ⤵   🤝 Build on synergies Europe needs to build on synergies between energy carriers, instead of the existing silo-thinking approach. Sector coupling can help with that. Great chart! Coal and peat are still major elements of energy needed in manufacturing heavy industries in China and India. Natural Gas production is greatly increased in the US recently - replacing gap from Russian oil for EU. China has been greatly investing in nuclear power generation.

On Thursday 21 March, DSO Entity hosted an event introducing its Annual Plan & strategic priorities for 2024, in the presence of Brussels' energy stakeholders.     While looking at the work to be done this year, DSO Entity will still deliver the tasks set out in the three pillars, along with other large projects such as:   👩💻 The development of DSO Entity’s Technical Vision of the energy system;  ➡ The delivery and monitoring of the assigned tasks within the European Commission's Action Plan for Grids;  📌 The Integration of Gas and Hydrogen DSOs into DSO Entity.      We had an insightful discussion on capacity constraints, what is needed to achieve the EU Climate targets with a focus on investments and funding opportunities.      Investments in distribution #grids are a no regret decision. As the Grid Action Plan highlighted, the need for 400 billion Euros to be invested in the distribution grid is essential, and we must accelerate this process. Together with our panelists we discussed the challenges #DSOs are facing and the priorities that must be addressed along with potential solutions, such us emphasising on the role of customers and the need of a customer-centric approach. 🌍 Exciting News! The European Commission adopted the 6th list of Projects of Common Interest, featuring 166 infrastructure projects. This groundbreaking list includes 65 hydrogen-related initiatives, signaling a strong push towards achieving Green Deal goals. 💡 These projects will establish a European hydrogen backbone, linking demand and supply across regions. While a major step forward, there's a call for more diverse projects and increased focus on hydrogen storage facilities. 💲 Investor confidence is addressed with regulatory clarity, yet more funding is needed.
