Flying millions of passengers safely and on time from A to B takes a team effort involving a wide variety of players from airports to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs). Yesterday a delegation from A4E travelled to Frankfurt to meet with the German ANSP DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH! We had a detailed discussion on how airlines and ANSPs can work together to reduce delays, increase airspace efficiency and improve capacity planning. Would you use a standing only air service? Ryan Air attempted to conduct test flights for standing tickets back in 2012 but were stopped by a UK regulator. This video is not a new standing passenger service, but a Boeing 737-800 (minus seats) being ferried from Ecuador to South Africa by Nomadic Aviation Group.

“This week marks more than 240 days since our stale and outdated contract expired,” said F/O Charlene Hudy, [Air Canada Pilots] Air Canada ALPA Master Executive Council (MEC) chair, during the event. “Air Canada has the opportunity to recognize our value by making important improvements to our contract, which must include closing the significant wage gap between the United States and Canada. If they fail to do so, we all will lose, and Air Canada will no longer attract and retain the pilots they require.” In January, ALPA and Air Canada entered into a mediation protocol agreement with a professional mediator to facilitate negotiations. This is the final week of negotiations scheduled under the protocol agreement. Since entering the mediation protocol agreement, the two parties have been successful in reaching some agreements, however, numerous items remain outstanding. With only days left in mediation, Air Canada pilots are sending a unified message to management that it’s time to deliver a world-class contract they have earned. “We’ve heard Air Canada’s ambitious growth plans during their recent quarterly financial updates.
