Yesterday, Monika Rybakowska and Lennard Hartman represented A4E at the 5th General Assembly of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA), hosted by EUROCONTROL. The Alliance is a voluntary initiative of more than 195 private and public partners who share the objective to prepare the entry into commercial service of hydrogen-powered and electric aircraft. A few highlights of what was discussed: 🔹 Roadmap Delivery: AZEA reinforced its commitment to delivering a comprehensive ecosystem roadmap by the end of 2025. 🔹 Work Plan for 2025-2026: Key new areas of interest and horizontal activities to support the roll-out of hydrogen-powered and electric flights were identified. 🔹 Updates from Working Groups: members were updated on progress made on aviation regulation, certification, and standardisation, including the recently adopted Standardisation Gap Report. It's no secret that achieving zero carbon emission aviation requires concerted efforts across all partners - from airlines and manufacturers to airports and regulators. Only with strong collaboration and bold actions by EU policymakers, Europe can lead the way in building a more sustainable, efficient and technologically advanced aviation sector. 👉 https://lnkd.in/dPneu_vy

👉 Delighted to open the 5th General Assembly of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA) taking place today at EUROCONTROL. Launched by the European Commission in 2022, #AZEA is a voluntary initiative bringing together public and private sectors to introduce hydrogen-powered and electric aircraft into commercial service by 2050. The Alliance comprises aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airports, energy providers, fuel suppliers, standardisation and certification bodies, environmental and passenger advocacy groups, and regulators. 🌎 At EUROCONTROL, we're fully committed to continuing to support the Alliance, leveraging our exclusive air traffic data and advanced modelling capabilities to help in the integration of zero-emission aircraft into the European network. This involves providing forecasts to assist in defining rollout scenarios, identifying operational and financial incentives for flights using these aircraft, and evaluating fuelling requirements and green energy needs across the network. We also support this transition through initiatives like the #FlyingGreen platform, providing stakeholders with the tools and data to decarbonise aviation and adapt to climate change. 📌 Our goal is to help the Alliance make informed decisions to seamlessly integrate these innovative technologies into Europe's future air traffic system. With over 190 organisations involved, we can drive the change needed for a sustainable aviation industry. Special thanks to the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS), their Director for Defence Industry François Arbault, and the teams working around this key initiative! 🔗 More information here: https://lnkd.in/dZgfm7h5

🛫✅ “the Groningen project is designed to provide a scalable testing ground for hydrogen innovations in aviation.” For Groningen Airport Eelde, being part of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation #AZEA proves to be very valuable. In terms of shared learning, #network and preparing TOGETHER for a more #sustainableaviation. Together we’re much better able to achieve the integration of electric and hydrogen aircraft into European aviation. Important conclusion for #airports and their regional governments: “Aerodromes should start early dialogues with governments as well as electricity and #hydrogen suppliers to prepare the adaptation of their infrastructures … and the supply of the required energy; government-industry cooperation will also be needed to equip the #aviation workforce with new skills.” An interesting read! 🌍✈️ Hamburg Aviation at the 5th General Assembly of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (AZEA) ✈️🌍 Fresh back from Brussels: Our colleague Niklas Schilling represented Hamburg Aviation at yesterday's 5th General Assembly of the Alliance for Zero-Emission Aviation (#AZEA) held at EUROCONTROL. This event brought together over 195 members of the aviation ecosystem, including aircraft manufacturers, operators, airports, energy providers, and regulators, all committed to advancing zero-emission aviation. 💯Very welcome was the Alliance’s dedication to delivering a comprehensive Roadmap for the entire ecosystem by the end of 2025. Key discussions included the Work Plan for 2025-2026, focusing on hydrogen-powered and electric flights, and updates from various Working Groups on regulation, certification, and standardization. 🤝As an aviation network, we fully support the #collaborative, bridge-building approach at AZEA that brings together industry, policymakers, researchers and advocacy groups to reach consensus and build new solutions. #Collaboration is key! That's especially true for Hamburg: Many of our members and partners are preparing the ground for new fuels like #hydrogen and associated technologies and infrastructure, an ambitious undertaking that can only succeed if we all work together. #networkingexcellence #ZeroEmissionAviation #SustainableAviation #Innovation

Excited to delve into the future of aviation fuel? Join us for a dynamic panel discussion on 'Aviation: the role of standards in European aviation's transition journey' at the 'Navigating the Transition: Standards Powering the Journey of Alternative Fuel Infrastructure' event in Brussels. Stephen Hands from Unified International will be joining the discussion, where he will be bringing perspectives of the DutcH₂ Aviation Hub to the discussion. With the pressure for a fuel-shift intensifying post-Regulation (EU) 2023/2405, we'll explore how EU airports and operators are adapting to these new requirements. How are airports and operators leveraging cutting-edge technologies and European standards to prepare for regulatory changes and drive a greener future in aviation? These and other questions will be discussed by the following representatives Bernard Gindroz, PhD, Dominik Piotrowski, Antoine TOULEMONT, Peter Laybourn and Stephen Hands of the aviation section during a panel discussion. Don't miss out on this insightful conversation! #AviationFuture #AlternativeFuels #EURegulations #GreenTransition #BrusselsEvent

Last week, we participated in the innovation mission to advance sustainable aviation cooperations between the United States and Netherlands. Engagements in Washington DC, Atlanta, and Wichita underscored shared goals with counterparts like Delta Air Lines, Aurora Aviation and Textron Eaviation. The Dutch commitment to exploring sustainable propulsion technologies aligns with US investments in this area, creating ample opportunities for cooperation. This mission advances our broader partnership with the American ecosystem. Special recognition goes to the Netherlands Innovation Network in the United States, the Ministerie van Economische Zaken en Klimaat, NAG Advancing your Aerospace and Airport Business, and (RVO - Ondernemerschap en Innovatie) for their outstanding organisation. Global decarbonisation in aviation necessitates collaboration. Dutch businesses have the potential to take the lead in sustainable aviation, nurturing both growth and innovation by strategically applying the principles of the golden triangle approach, which prioritise seamless coordination among industry, academia, and government. Unified believes in collaboration, feasibility, and innovation to drive positive change. Together with Conscious Aerospace, we aim to transition to sustainable aviation in a technical and economical way. #SustainableAviation #InnovationMission #Decarbonisation #Collaboration #AviationTechnology
