If a flight has to be cancelled due to weather conditions or air traffic when flying during the maintenance process, the tickets will be rescheduled on the next flight based on ticket availability. In an otherwise circumstance, complete refunds will be made within 3 to 4 business days. The death of a British man and injuries impacting dozens of other people aboard a Singapore Airlines flight that hit severe turbulence Tuesday highlighted the potential dangers of flying through unstable air. The exact cause of the 73-year-old man’s death is under investigation. Authorities said he may have suffered a heart attack, though that hasn’t been confirmed. Based on witness accounts, the number of injuries and the airliner’s sharp descent, experts point to the significant safety hazards that in-flight turbulence poses to airline passengers and crews. While turbulence-related fatalities are quite rare, injuries have piled up over the years. Some meteorologists and aviation analysts note that reports of turbulence encounters also have been increasing and point to the potential impacts that climate change may have on flying conditions. Most incidents of planes hitting bumpy air are minor, however, and airlines have made steady improvements to reduce accident rates from turbulence over time. Air traffic ✈️ in week 31 (29.07-04.08) was ▼0.5% vs week 30, reflecting the normal seasonal evolution of intra-European flights. En-route Air Traffic Control delays were again very high at 5.4 minutes per flight (although slightly lower than in week 30), with almost 50% being driven by weather and the rest by capacity and staffing. 🚨 More Trouble for Southwest Airlines ✈️ 🆘 Southwest Flight 1248 narrowly avoided disaster off Florida's coast. 🔺 The Boeing 737-800, en route from Orlando to Miami with 143 passengers and crew, experienced sudden engine failure at 10,000 feet and severe turbulence. 🔺 Captain Emma Thompson's quick thinking and emergency procedures diverted the plane to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, where it landed safely. 🔺 Emergency responders were on high alert, but all passengers and crew emerged unscathed, though some reported minor injuries and shock. 🛬🌊 🆘 Southwest Flight 2786 came within 400 feet of crashing into the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii. 🔺 En route to Kauai, the Boeing 737 Max 8 dropped from 16,000 feet due to severe weather. 🔺 The plane briefly descended at an "abnormally high rate" of over 4,000 feet per minute. 🔺 The flight crew performed a "roller coaster maneuver" to avoid disaster. 🌧️🌊 📛 Both incidents, which occurred on April 11th and June 15th, have sparked investigations. ❗The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is assessing the aircraft and flight data for Flight 1248, while the FAA is investigating the plunge of Flight 2786. #AviationSafety #TravelAlert #SouthwestAirlines #travelnews #TripMe
