Air Liquide Announces $850 million investment “Air Liquide plans to invest up to 850 million dollars to build, own and operate four Large Modular Air separation units as well as related infrastructure in the framework of a long-term binding agreement with ExxonMobil for its planned low-carbon hydrogen project in Baytown, TX. This will enable Air Liquide to increase its oxygen production capacity by 50% in Texas. Pending final investment decision, this major project would mark the largest industrial investment in the history of the Air Liquide Group. This new Air Liquide Baytown low-carbon platform would serve primarily ExxonMobil with vast amounts of low-carbon oxygen and nitrogen, as well as significant volumes of argon and rare gases such as krypton and xenon for Air Liquide’s other customers. Thanks to low carbon electricity supply and Air Liquide’s innovative solution, the CO2 footprint of oxygen production will be reduced by two-thirds. Taking action on our goal to develop and deploy lower-emission energy solutions. We are excited to share, last month, we started production of #Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) at the Esso Port-Jérôme-Gravenchon refinery through co-processing. This new technology pathway was made possible through exceptional collaboration between the ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering team and the local facilities team on the ground in Gravenchon. We are using our existing infrastructure, experience in traditional refining and leadership in technology to produce lower-emission fuels. This new production step is part of ExxonMobil’s goal to supply approximately 40,000 barrels per day of lower-emission fuel by 2025, and 200,000 barrels per day by 2030. We recently updated our ExxonMobil Corporate Plan through 2027 to demonstrate our commitment to providing the energy and products society needs and to lower emissions. ExxonMobil is pursuing more than $20 billion of lower-emissions opportunities through 2027, which represents the third increase in the last three years, from an initial $3 billion in lower emission spending identified in early 2021. This is in addition to the recent $5 billion all-stock acquisition of Denbury Inc., which expanded #CCS opportunities through access to the largest CO2 pipeline network in the United States. Our technology paired with our functional excellence help attribute to expectations of generating returns of approximately 15% and potentially reducing third-party emissions by more than 50 Mta by 2030. Through an all-stock transaction which valued $4.9 billion, ExxonMobil closed its acquisition of Denbury Inc. This means that ExxonMobil has gained the benefit of owning and operating the largest Co2 pipeline network in the U.S. The acquisition adds over 1,300 miles and benefits other companies, as well, not just ExxonMobil. The addition to ExxonMobil’s network, now brings it to just under 925 miles of Co2 pipelines in Louisiana, Texas and Mississippi. This is an excellent advancement as this means that ExxonMobil’s network is now located in one of the largest U.S. markets concerned with Co2 emissions.
