As some of you may know, last week marked the end of my journey at Republic Airways. Leaving such a great organization and team was one of the toughest decisions I've made in my professional life. It was an honor to lead the Republic IT team for the last 6.5 years. We've accomplished some exciting work that has not only transformed Republic Airways but also pushed the industry forward. Our small team has held its own against many larger organizations by being agile and innovative, which has set us apart and prepared us for years of success to come. I want to take a moment to thank Republic Airways, Leadership In Flight Training Academy (LIFT) and their leadership team for trusting me for the last 6.5 years. I also want to express my gratitude to the team that I had the privilege to work with every day. Their pursuit of excellence pushed me, grew me, and kept me as passionate about the mission as I was on Day 1. To the entire team at Republic – let’s continue to soar to new heights. Thank you for allowing me to fly with you all! Many people have asked me if things weren't going well or if something happened for me to leave. But those who know me well understand that, despite everything going well and at times even feeling perfect, it was time for me to find the next challenge that could continue to grow me and help me learn a new industry. I recently came across a feature by DSV - Global Transport and Logistics, and one key point she raised resonated strongly with my own Project Management journey, Adaptability. This word, often overlooked, has been pivotal in navigating the complexities of managing large-scale projects. Adaptability, in my own experience, means more than reacting to unforeseen challenges. It’s about proactively anticipating change, streamlining processes, and balancing the needs of diverse teams and clients. This has been a guiding principle throughout my career, and Maybelline's story, the lessons I've learned from Project Management Institute and the PMI Singapore Chapter have reinforced this mindset, serving as a reminder of how critical it is in our line of work.

Shame on you Qantas! For years I've been wandering through the Qantas lounge and watching an extraordinary member of staff go through their paces with an undying commitment of customer service - the consummate professional - the sort of person you would all want on your team. A few weeks ago I saw this person once again going about their work with their incredible dedication and then I felt embarrassed, because never once had I acknowledged their amazing effort and shared with them how they contributed to making my day that little bit better. So I did exactly that. It was warmly received. Not stopping there, I took out the laptop and make a customer complimentary feedback to report to Qantas, formally acknowledging this person's extraordinary contribution to their organisation. My report was duly recognised by Qantas and I received my numbered reference number accordingly. Imagine, my surprise when weeks later (today) I happen to be in the lounge once again and see this member of staff diligently performing their duties. I advised them I had submitted a complimentary report some weeks back and asked them if they had received any formally recognition. The answer was "no". What's tragically sad, is that for some reason this is the answer I expected. Shame on you Qantas - the only value you possess these days are some of the incredible people you have working for you and you clearly fail to put them at centre of what you do. People and culture should be at the heart of everything. Very disappointing. Why is it some organisations seem to place greater importance and focus on disciplining their people rather than, acknowledging, cultivating, growing, nurturing and building. 🌟 During 20 years in my career, I’ve been called a lot of things: A “boss lady”, “Minister of fun and Finance”, even the “escalation queen”. I've had my fair share of nominations and awards, but yesterday took the cake! I was called in for a casual catch-up with my boss, and as I sat there deep in my own thoughts—overthinking as usual—a million ideas raced through my mind. “What this meeting could be about, we just had a 1:1 very recently”; I never expected what was coming. When the moment finally arrived, I was completely shocked and then filled with pride and joy to learn I won the “Exceptional Contributor award” of the Year at Air New Zealand! A bit of insight about this award: Leaders are able to nominate their people – at all levels in the organization, and regardless of what work area or employment agreement they’re on – to receive an Exceptional Contributor award. In order to be eligible, you must demonstrate achievement against some or all of the following 6 criteria (practical examples will be required): Consistently achieves all expected outcomes to a very high standard - Has exceptional mastery of their role in all areas including technical skills and knowledge - Constantly strives to improve business results - Role models the Air NZ values and behaviors - Acts innovatively and drives positive change - Has made a significant contribution to one or more of the Kia Mau strategic pillars This recognition means the world to me, and I want to take a moment to thank everyone who supported and nominated me. I’ve always believed that individual accomplishments aren’t possible without a supportive team. I don't often give myself credit, but this experience has inspired me to strive even harder to deserve what I've received. You haveth my attention British Airways! ✈ Yes, it's the 1st of August and I'm sharing my favourite marketing campaign from July. British Airways has become known for their fun safety videos, differentiating themselves from the experience on competitor flights by showing said videos instead of having the cabin crew on board lead the demonstration. And turning them into a marketing campaign by releasing them outside of the traditional plane setting. So, why do I love the latest one so much? 👒 There are SO many references to classic literature and period dramas, enticing the audience 👒 It's timely - Bridgerton is huge right now, and we've seen a few stand out collabs that play on the show's popularity 👒 It features real BA employees, showing off their expertise and ensuring you're seeing a friendly face (and not just an actor!) 👒 It uses the juxtaposition of period and modern to create moments of fun, that keep the audience interested all the way through - exactly what you need for a safety video! Finally, inclusion is the way to go. More organisations should emulate this and create inclusive workplaces.

Workplace diversity is an essential aspect of modern business that reflects the variety of human experiences and perspectives in the workforce. It encompasses the inclusion of individuals from different races, ethnicities, genders, ages, religions, abilities, sexual orientations, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

There’s a lot happening with Virgin Australia as they continue to push for market share in Australia. Virgin Australia has revamped and upgraded its loyalty program, introducing Lifetime Loyalty (Forever Gold status) and a brand new Platinum Plus, offering extra rewards and exclusive benefits for their most dedicated members. [Learn more about the changes here](https://lnkd.in/gQSJbrP7). This comes on the back of an investment by Qatar Airways, which acquired a strategic 25% stake in Virgin Australia. My thoughts are that they’ve done this to bypass capacity restrictions, but it’s great to see foreign investment in the aviation industry, providing competition and enhancing both domestic and global network coverage.
