As Ireland is set to Review Covid-19 Response, we must focus on learning, not blame Later this week I will be meeting with the Government as they prepare to review our Covid-19 response, and I will be pointing out to them that this review must focus on learning and improvement, rather than placing blame. This I believe has the potential to signify a mature approach in policymaking, where decisions are scrutinised for their evidence base and adherence to human rights and values. This is more than a review; it's a step towards reshaping how policies are formed in Ireland and across the globe. We should be aiming to blend science with politics to create policies that are not only effective but also equitable and meaningful. I'm thrilled to see yet another great result from Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights's Accountability and Remedy Project. 💡 ARP's work is continuously taking proactive steps to address the complexities of the remedy ecosystem in cases of business-related human rights abuse. This new guide on #AccessToRemedy is a significant resource for businesses navigating their roles in establishing and participating in grievance mechanisms. 🎯 One aspect that particularly resonates with me is the distinction (and possible synergies?) made between operational-level grievance mechanisms (GM) and whistle-blower reporting channels. This differentiation is crucial, as it highlights the diverse channels that comprise the remedy ecosystem. 🖋 In my experience, I've consistently stressed the importance of recognizing and addressing the distinct expectations and functionalities of these channels, a topic I delved into in my white paper, which you can read here: https://lnkd.in/erzUZxMe. 📌 The guide's emphasis on the criteria for legitimate, accessible, predictable, equitable, rights-compatible, transparent, and continuously learning grievance mechanisms is invaluable. It provides businesses with clear benchmarks to assess and enhance the effectiveness of their grievance mechanisms, fostering accountability and transparency. And very importantly: it deals with the whole ecosystem, stressing the State's essential role in #AccesstoRemedy. As we continue to advocate for ethical business practices and human rights due diligence, resources like this guide serve as essential tools for driving positive change and ensuring respect for human rights across all levels of business operations. #HumanRights #AccessToRemedy #UNGPs #OHCHR #EthicalBusiness

It addresses key questions such as: 👉What are operational-level grievance mechanisms? How they differ from whistle-blower reporting channels? 👉What does it mean for a grievance mechanism to be considered legitimate, accessible, predictable, equitable, rights-compatible, transparent, and a source of continuous learning? 👉How can industry, multi-stakeholder and other collaborative initiatives ensure that grievance mechanisms are available? Founding Executive Director at International Multidisciplinary Neuroscience Research Centre (IMNRC asbl/vzw)
UNITED NATIONS HEARING REQUESTED. NCBP NEW WORLD CONSTITUTION (NWC) PROPOSAL. PLEASE CIRCULATE. --------------- Institutions, organisations, universities, civil society, politicians, academia, ... ARE HELPLESS AND DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO! WHY? DYSFUNCTIONAL MINDSET <---> DYSFUNCTIONAL EDUCATION <---> DYSFUNCTIONAL GOVERNANCE. SOLUTION = INTERFACE MINDSET <---> INTERFACE EDUCATION <---> INTERFACE GOVERNANCE. I therefore suggest that the international community turns to the IMNRC and its Flagship Programme (NCBP) immediately. There seems to be NO ALTERNATIVE! https://lnkd.in/effir8jN
