59% of people do not know what Corporate Manslaughter is, while 41% say they have an understanding. Recent events in Trinidad and Tobago have brought this term to the forefront of our minds, particularly in relation to the Paria Tragedy. But are we merely responding to media sensationalism? To be clear, I did not make up this term as it is public information on all media platforms with the report of the Paria Event making its rounds. I was just wondering how many of us really know what was being made public. As it turns out, the majority does not know what the term means or where it even begins to take effect. It's important to have a clear understanding of this term and its implications, especially in the corporate world. Let's educate ourselves and have informed conversations about Corporate Manslaughter. #CorporateManslaughter #PariaTragedy #Education #InformedConversations #trinidadandtobago #hse https://lnkd.in/eSPmpZY6 https://lnkd.in/eKW94UPy

5 quick lessons I learned from this journey: 1. When applying for a certain position or accolade, follow the application instructions to the tee! -One of the biggest frustrations that we faced when vetting applications, was applicants sending incomplete applications or not having followed instructions. This not only delayed the process, but gave our duties an unnecessary resistance that was frustrating to deal with. -Going to the world of work in an unemployment-ridden country like South Africa, you do not want to give a recruiter easy reasons to toss your application aside for something as trivial as a failure to follow administrative procedures. 2. Almost all mistakes are fixable. - “We are not heart surgeons. Our mistakes don’t cost lives.” is something I constantly told my team. If you want to remedy a mistake, you will do all you can to. Panic a bit if you have to, but quickly get back to the game. - My team and I once sent out communication that was open for multiple interpretations. This was a mistake on our end that caused confusion to the applicants. We acknowledged it to ourselves and going forward, we made sure to send out clear communication and encouraged relevant stakeholders to reach out with questions. 3. Your team want to do their jobs. There’s absolutely no need to micromanage them. - It’s amazing what can happen if you show people that you completely trust them. Let your team’s creativity and innovation shine. ✨ 4. It’s okay to say “I don’t know” ,but make an effort to find out. -“ Hey, I didn’t quite understand that” is not something to be embarrassed about. Don’t move on with incorrect assumptions because you find not knowing embarrassing. 5. Trust that you will be able to deal with curveballs thrown at you. - We were supposed to be a team of 9. Life happened, academics got intense and we reach the finish line as a team of 6. Spreading duties amongst the 6 of us was a bit worrying to me but guess what?! My amazing team soldiered on like nothing happened! What did Megan the Stallion say again? 🎶 🤘🏾Orere wa staa🤘🏾🎶 Take what resonates with you going forward. Have a lovely Friday!! (Ps, It’s 16:30 on a Friday guys 😩valani ama laptop😂Kadlala.)
