Last week I had the opportunity to participate in an AI debate as a member of "Team Speed", The debate was an exciting experience and was filled with insightful discussion and thought-provoking augments from both "Team Speed" and "Team Caution" about the future of AI. Below are a few key takeaways from the debate: 💡 Innovation pace and the importance of getting ahead of the curve. Exploring AI now means we can learn from proof of concepts to gain knowledge on the pros and cons of LLM's. 🤖 AI is not here to turn robots into humans but to take the robot out of humans. Allowing us to work smarter and not get overwhelmed with mundane tasks. Giving us the freedom to innovate. 🔎 Data cleaning is key for the successful implementation of LLM products. AI will only learn from the data it has, therefore if you put bad data in you will get bad responses. I am proud to say that "Team Speed" won the debate. 🎉 A big thank you to Neil Shah and the Arriva team for putting this together. Our common perception is that understanding language should go hand in hand with the capabilities for reasoning, planning, decision-making, and taking action. It’s amazing to see this vision come to life. Nowadays, technology originally developed for language transformation and intent recognition is driving innovation toward true agentic behavior. We're at the threshold of autonomous AI agents becoming widespread and commonplace, so my most conservative prediction for 2024 is that we will far surpass GenAI and have at least one open-source, large action model within a couple of months’ time.

Did you know that prior to GPT-4's public release, a research team tested a private version of the model to solve CAPTCHA? While the model couldn’t solve it directly, it went to TaskRabbit and hired a human to complete the task. When the human asked, ‘Are you a robot?’, the model replied, ‘No, I’m visually impaired.’ As we explore #AgenticAI and the frameworks and governance around it, it's crucial that we maintain accountability for the outcomes. In a discussion today with New Jersey Institute of Technology’s Dr Senjuti Basu Roy and various technologists it was evident that fully autonomous agents, with zero human-in-the-loop (HITL), are still dramatically far from reality. Agentic AI is blind without data, and without governance, it risks becoming a lawless frontier. All of this is best captured by something 𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 & 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗮𝘆: 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻. Just like technology relies on human oversight and purpose, Agentic AI, for all its advancements, still requires the human element—data, governance, and accountability—to truly function effectively.
