What are we reading today at Kantox? 📚 An article about the 'fintechisation' of Travel (*). Kantox's Marc Padrosa Cabello dissects the seemingly unstoppable 'fintechisation' of the Travel industry. Some of the key points: - What lies behind this trend? To better serve customers —and to generate new sources of revenue —businesses are forced to collaborate with one another, offering products and services that individual companies could not create as effectively on their own. - Payments. Marc singles out Mews, Hopper, Booking.com and the French retailer C-Discount as examples of Travel-Fintech collaboration with a focus on payments. It's mostly about controlling the transactional flow while embedding solutions like Buy-Now-Pay-Later. - Behind the scenes. The author also discusses HBX Group and its 'Bed Bank' operator Hotel Beds. Behind the scenes and with less glitz, Fintech companies —in this case: Kantox— create solutions that allow firms to save on FX costs, while confidently 'embracing currencies'. - Testing the waters. Operators need to pay attention to the details though. There are multiple vendors that pass the cost of their solutions directly to the employee which reduces their payout below 100% of earning with a "nominal fee" of $0.75 to $0.99 per transaction.
