At the Future of Food Competition last week, I experienced an event that was truly DIFFERENT: 🌍 A focus on the future: This wasn’t about sales pipelines or immediate growth strategies. Instead, it shone a much-needed spotlight on how the food-related decisions we make today will shape the health of our planet tomorrow. 🤝 A space for meaningful conversations and a shift in our collective mindset: There were no badge scans, sales pitches, or lead-generation tactics here. Instead, the competition created a space for deeper, collective thinking—one where voices driving sustainability and innovation could be amplified to inspire broader change. 🎙 This was not the time for casual networking: As a judge, I didn’t have time for the chats I usually have at industry events. I had to focus solely on listening to and learning from the shortlisted founders. Each one showcased not just their products but their purpose: tackling some of the biggest challenges we face as a global community. 💡 The decision-making process was incredibly tough—every finalist brought something extraordinary to the table. I wish them all success because the world needs these ideas and businesses to thrive. Huge congratulations to the winners: 🥉 Dogtooth Technologies (Bronze) 🥈 Seep (Silver) 🥇 NICE RICE (Gold) I'm over the moon to be welcoming Fergus O'Sullivan as the first founder on to the Brand Growth Heroes Alantra Mini MBA 2025, which NICE RICE was awarded as Gold winner. More about this in the coming days. A massive shoutout to the other incredible finalists: Sylt Pickling, Bold Bean Co | B Corp™, Fermtech, BLUE TURACO COFFEE, No More Lids, Remy, Love Struck, One Living, Superfoodio, XOXO SODA, Tender Shoot Farm, @More Toddler Meals, and Sun Bear Biofuture. You are all shaping a better future. Thank you to my fellow judges - Adam Leyland, Rebecca Oliver-Mooney, Yilmaz Erceyes, Jason Gibb, and Damian Thornton — for the thoughtful deliberations and many debates. Barney😜 Mauleverer: thank you for creating this new platform that I hope will continue to amplifying the voices and businesses that can truly make a difference. I look forward to coming to it again next year. #futureoffoodcompetition #sustainability #foodinnovation #entrepreneurs

My advice... start with an honest assessment of the barriers your industry is facing from the consumers point of view. Not based on how you see your industry, but how they do.
We had the immense pleasure of speaking with Maisie Ganzler at the GSF 2024. An experienced marketer and author, Maisie has worked with Bon Appétit Management Company as Chief Strategy and Brand Officer and is now an independent advisor. Maisie shared insights on how the industry can drive #shrimp consumption. #GlobalShrimpForum #GSF2024 #GSFinterviews #seafood

Just wrapped up a fantastic experience at #Indusfood2025! It was an incredible opportunity to explore emerging trends, innovative products, and connect with dynamic professionals shaping the future of the food and beverage industry. The conversations were insightful, and the networking opportunities were plentiful—truly a hub of innovation and collaboration. Interestingly, attending an exhibition like #Indusfood reminded me of how similar it is to family gatherings. Both are bustling with diverse conversations, the joy of reunions, and the excitement of discovering something new—whether it’s an idea, a partner, or a shared vision. Just like family get-togethers strengthen bonds, exhibitions like #Indusfood strengthen business relationships and open doors to new possibilities. Grateful for the experiences, connections, and ideas gained—and looking forward to turning these insights into actionable opportunities! #Indusfood2025 #Networking #BusinessOpportunities #ExhibitionsAndConnections #FoodIndustry #GlobalMarkets #TPCI #MOFA #Tradeandcommerce #Exports #Internationalbusiness

One of my April highlights was undoubtedly the International Monetary Fund and The World Bank #SpringMeetings in Washington, DC, which I had the privilege of attending alongside several of my colleagues from around the world. It was hugely inspirational to listen to global leaders discussing how to solve major challenges and find new opportunities for global growth. One of the week’s pervasive themes was the widening gap between #developingmarkets and the rest of the world, an issue that was exacerbated by the COVID pandemic. It’s a topic that hits close to home for AB InBev on two levels. First, more than two-thirds of our operations are located in #emergingmarkets, which means many of our communities are impacted by this persistent gap. This makes it a personal issue for our company. Second, we know from Oxford Economics research that the beer sector is especially important to these countries, where it supports an average of 1.6% percent of GDP and 1.4% of national employment (compared to 0.9% and 1.1% in developed markets). This shows that the global beer industry has the power to play a critical role in the #economicgrowth and success of these countries, and it has been pushing me to think more creatively about how our industry can continue to be a part of the solution. I was so glad I could attend such a thought-provoking event. Thanks to my colleagues for their hard work in making this week a success, with a robust agenda filled with high-quality engagements. Here’s to a future with more economic growth, more jobs, and more cheers for us all! #WBGMeetings #IMFMeetings #FutureWithMoreCheers Emily Wallen, Mariana Alter, Monica Ramirez Gil, Andrew Whiting, Mesiya Mwangoka, Raul Escalante, Rodrigo Gallegos, Rohan C., Beatriz Capraro, Andres Peñate, Catalina Garcia
