Lamborghini is gearing up to introduce its first fully electric vehicle in 2028, marking a major evolution in the brand’s lineup. This new EV, previewed by the Lanzador concept at the 2023 Pebble Beach event, will be a distinctive 2+2 grand tourer with a bold design, departing from the brand’s traditional sports car roots. CEO Stephan Winkelmann is confident that this electric model will achieve strong sales, similar to Lamborghini’s best-selling supercars, despite the fluctuating market for electric vehicles. During the Urus SE launch at the Nardò Technical Center, Winkelmann outlined future production expectations. While the Revuelto, Lamborghini's latest offering in a smaller segment, will see limited production, models like Temerario and the upcoming electric grand tourer are expected to reach comparable sales figures. The Urus is projected to remain Lamborghini's top-seller, while Temerario, introduced earlier this year as the replacement for the Huracán—which accounted for 40% of sales last year with nearly 4,000 units— is expected to achieve similar success. Lamborghini is taking a long-term approach to electric vehicle adoption, particularly in the luxury segment. Winkelmann emphasized that the brand's development cycles last several years, and each model has an eight-year product lifespan. He stressed the importance of planning for future trends, not just current consumer preferences. Chief Technical Officer Rouven Mohr echoed this sentiment, explaining that Lamborghini is not interested in replicating the driving experience of combustion engines with artificial sounds or simulated gear shifts.
