Formula 1 is shifting gears towards sustainability! 🏎️ Did you know that Formula 1 is not just racing on the track but also racing to reduce its environmental footprint? By using Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), F1 is slashing aviation emissions by up to 80%, making its global logistics much more eco-friendly. Here’s the twist though...SAF is only produced in limited locations. So how does F1 fuel its globe-trotting charter flights? Through the "Book and Claim" system, ensuring that while their planes might not always use SAF, the carbon savings are still counted toward their emissions goals. F1 isn’t just racing on the track—they're speeding ahead in the fight against climate change! Here's how they're leading the way- 🌱Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) powers F1’s logistics, cutting aviation emissions by 80%. Using the "Book and Claim system", F1 ensures SAF is used, even if not in their own planes, allowing them to claim carbon savings and meet sustainability targets. DHL’s provision of SAF for F1 air cargo is verified by the ISCC - International Sustainability and Carbon Certification, ensuring strict sustainability standards. 🌱F1’s investment in SAF is a key part of their goal to reach Net Zero by 2030. For the 2024 season, SAF will cover cargo flights, reducing emissions by over 4,500 tCO2e. 🌱To further reduce their carbon footprint, F1 has implemented a remote broadcast operation, meaning fewer people and equipment travel to races, with production handled from the UK. 🌱Starting in 2026, F1 will introduce new engine regulations with the mandatory use of 100% advanced sustainable fuels. This drop-in fuel can be blended with traditional fuels and used in existing engines without modifications, ushering in a new era for both racing and other sectors like aviation and shipping. As Ellen Jones, Head of ESG at Formula 1, said, "SAF is just the latest step...and underscores how alternative fuels both on and off track can materially reduce carbon emissions." #Sustainability #F1 #SAF #NetZero2030 #GreenLogistics
