The AI Opportunities Action Plan - what does it mean for the construction industry? This week, the UK government unveiled its AI Opportunities Action Plan at UCL East, one of AKT II's flagship projects. The talk signified a bold step to position artificial intelligence as a driver of #societal and #economic transformation. For the #construction industry, this marks the beginning of a significant shift. AI Growth Zones, aimed at accelerating the development of data centres, promise to provide the computational infrastructure necessary for advanced tools such as generative design systems and real-time project monitoring. The establishment of a National Data Library will unlock critical public datasets, enabling #predictive models and #sustainable material optimisation to become integral parts of the design process. The plan addresses a 20-fold expansion of the UK’s compute capacity by 2030 which will empower the construction sector to adopt these technologies at scale. The plan also places a strong emphasis on #talent development, with a commitment to train tens of thousands of AI professionals by 2030. This initiative should places the construction sector at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for innovation and growth. What do you think are the opportunities and challenges posed by this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #KeirStarmer #UCLEast #AIInnovation

The future is AI, the future is now. There are myriads of possible ways humans and machines can interact. It is the human machine interface that excites me as an occupational safety and health professional. Adopting the PtD (prevention through design) methodology we can ensure that a human centered approach is incorporated from the beginning to engineer out anticipated risk and injury to humans from automation to robotics to faulty data analysis. While PtD is typically thought of as an engineering methodology, I challenge OHS professionals to apply this methodology to more abstract ideas as we flow with the speed of tech and innovation. The Biden administration has published a document titled the AI Bill of Rights which is a framework for ensuring automated systems are developed with a focus on people. Further, the International Labor Organization has launched a new virtual hub that will coordinate the latest research on AI which will help shape its prevalence in the workplace and dictate the future of work. Exciting times indeed!!

🔍 Unlocking the Potential of Engineered Intelligence: AI's Dynamic New Ally As we navigate the landscape of artificial intelligence, we find ourselves on the edge of a fourth AI winter. Although the confidence in AI's ability to deliver remarkable value is waning, the opportunity to avert this downturn lies within our reach. 🔎 Identifying the Gap in AI Development Unlike other scientific fields, AI breakthroughs often lack a dedicated engineering discipline, leading to high failure rates—an alarming 87% of AI projects don’t achieve their intended results. Organizations tend to hire data scientists focused on research rather than practical applications, creating a disconnect that hinders innovation. 💡 Introducing Engineered Intelligence Enter "engineered intelligence," a promising field that bridges the gap between AI research and real-world engineering applications. By revitalizing research-to-engineering pipelines and fostering collaboration among experts, organizations can effectively translate AI advancements into intelligent solutions that drive tangible value. 🔧 5 Steps to Implement Intelligence Engineering in Your Organization To embrace intelligence engineering, organizations need to adopt a new approach: 1. Create a heatmap identifying existing expertise. 2. Assess which areas hold the most value. 3. Choose top expertise areas to focus your efforts. 4. Evaluate these for ROI and feasibility. 5. Allocate resources to develop and execute valuable use cases. 🌟 Forging a New Path to Value with AI By implementing intelligence engineering principles, organizations can unlock new opportunities and create safe, practical solutions that drive economic and societal growth. As we chart this path, the results will span industries, generating new job categories and creating significant value. #ArtificialIntelligence #EngineeredIntelligence #Innovation #DataScience #AIImplementation #FutureOfWork #ValueCreation #AIInsightshttps://lnkd.in/gBTu-VrY
