We are thrilled to announce our renewed partnership with Magdalene in Indonesia! Magdalene is a women-focused online publication that offers news and views with a gender perspective. Magdalene was founded in 2013 to fill the gap of media that capture issues that really affect women and cover news with intersectional feminist lens. Magdalene serves as a platform to represent and amplify voices of those rarely represented in the Indonesian media, including from minority and marginalised groups. Though the IW partnership, Magdalene will launch a new initiative called Serempak Setara (Together Towards Equality). This new initiative recognises that women’s participation and representation in workplace leadership is inevitably intertwined with their caring responsibilities. Serempak Setara aims to raise public awareness, shift perspectives and attitudes, inspire changemakers, and mobilise action to promote gender-equal sharing of care and economic roles. About last night Coldplay is playing 6 straight nights in Singapore and being a big fan of the band we were at the National Stadium one among the 60,000. The reason I write this post is because I saw ESG in action at the concert and also learnt something new . The opening act was Jasmine Sokko a talented local artist who opened for them. We often forget gender equality is SDG 5. Before the concert started they showed the work they do for life under water-SDG 14 by running a project to clean the oceans. The floor for the large standing pen was made of kinetic tiles- first I had heard of these- so the more you jump on these during the concert , more electricity is generated which is used to light up the concert !! They had stationary bikes at the back that you could ride that also generated electricity when you rode them. And last but not least all wristbands, the ones that light up, are collected back and they shared data about the percentages collected back at each city which were all above 95%-SDG 12. I started thinking about why kinetic energy is not being harnessed today eg in gyms where ppl are riding bikes etc. is this an area where we need innovation to find solutions and bring down costs ? As June fades and the vibrant Pride flags 🏳️🌈 come down, it's crucial to remember that the fight for equality and inclusion doesn't end with the close of Pride Month. At SISU, we believe that the recognition and celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community must be a year-round commitment. In July, Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Trans 🏳️⚧️, and Queer individuals are still here, living their truths and navigating a world that often tries to silence 🤫 them. Pride is more than a month-long celebration; it's an ongoing movement demanding #visibility, #representation, and #SystemicChange. It's about recognising the unique challenges the #LGBTQIA+ community faces and actively working towards a more inclusive society. We must continue to push for changes in government policies that protect and uplift LGBTQIA+ individuals. Safe spaces are essential for the wellbeing of the community, where everyone can express their identities without fear of discrimination or violence. This is not just about tolerance; it's about genuine acceptance and support. The rainbow washing may disappear, but the need for #advocacy remains.
