Submarine Duty can be incredibly challenging at times…and then there are moments like this that are divine and priceless! Many don’t realize that the submarine warfare insignia, our hard-earned badge that distinguishes and identifies our tribe of “qualified submariners”, is referred to as dolphins. I still remember having to memorize this insignia at OCS: It was a bow view of a submarine, proceeding on the surface, with bow planes rigged for diving, flanked by dolphins in a horizontal position with their heads resting on the upper edge of the bow planes.

From my post yesterday, everyone had fond memories about the dolphins that rode the bow wake on the submarine. So I thought I would show a good video of it so everyone can enjoy it. Alan Nelson, CFP®, MBA, ChFC®, MQFP® running through the submarine with an EAB and backwards hood on as I move from manifold to manifold, earning my Dolphins was one of the most meaningful achievements while in service. Also, how come everyone has videos of dolphins off the bow of the submarine, but no one ever shows the crew in the sail pulling into Sasebo during a blizzard! At least the main engines warmed us up afterwards
I love this vid!
