One of the most interesting facts about my internship is that this is my first time staying away from family. I know it is strange to some here. It is fine.😅 This meant that I needed to make some key independent decisions, like where to live. My goal for accommodation was to live in a conducive place near the hospital, where I wouldn't have to stress myself or spend a dime on transportation. Then, I reached out to some people around that I was looking for a place. One of my seniors I contacted who just concluded his internship reached out to me if I would be interested in his place, as he would be leaving soon. The amazing thing was that many people knew about the place, but they were not open to it. Even when I wanted to secure the place, I got lots of discouragement from many but I stood my ground, like the house is very close to the hospital and that alone won my heart. After I got the place, I started getting compliments like "Oh! You are lucky", "If I am the one staying in your house, I would be so happy" from the same people who knew about the place. Although I asked why many were not interested in the house and I got to know the reason. I weighed my options to conclude it's still the right place for me. It is crucial to learn how to make decisions independently without following the crowd. Do you have a similar experience? As I complete my enriching 6-month internship journey at ancillarie, I find myself reflecting on the invaluable lessons and experiences gained during this time. 🎯 Focused Learning over speed!: Throughout my internship, I realized that more than being a fast learner, it's crucial to be a focused learner with a keen eye for detail. In clinical data management, precision is really important and overlooking even the smallest detail can have significant consequences. 💼 Emphasizing Teamwork and Coordination: Collaboration and teamwork were fundamental aspects of my internship experience. I learned the importance of effective communication, collaboration and coordination within a team. Working closely with colleagues from various backgrounds and expertise levels enhanced my understanding of the intricate processes involved in clinical data management. 🕰️ Effective Time Management: Managing time effectively was another key takeaway from my internship. Understanding which areas required immediate attention and which could be addressed later helped me optimize productivity and ensure timely completion of tasks. 📈Continuous Upskilling and Adaptability: One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my internship was the importance of continuous upskilling and adaptability. In a rapidly evolving field like clinical data management, staying updated with the latest tools, techniques and industry trends is essential. Whether it is mastering new software applications or staying abreast of regulatory changes, I believe each and every fresher need to follow the path and grow as an individual to contribute to the growth of the company and themselves. In conclusion, my internship at ancillarie provided me with a solid foundation in clinical data management while equipping me with essential skills, insights, and experiences that will undoubtedly shape my future career trajectory. Internship Chronicles: A Story of Growth and Discovery. It all began with a simple text message: "Congratulations, you've been selected...." That message marked the start of an incredible journey during my internship at Edo Specialist Hospital. What began as a new opportunity quickly turned into a chapter of immense growth, challenges, and learning. First-Day Nerves: On my first day, I was both excited and nervous. Stepping into a new environment brought questions: Would I be able to contribute meaningfully? Could I make an impact? Slowly, as I delved into projects, those nerves transformed into a drive to learn and grow. New Skills and Insights: From tackling taking on difficult cannulations to learning new strategies in patient care, every day brought a new challenge and an opportunity to expand my knowledge. Some days were seamless, while others required persistence and problem-solving, but the experience was invaluable. Guidance and Mentorship: Behind every challenge was a mentor who helped guide me through. Worthy of particular mention are Dr. Sebastian Omenai and Dr. Victor Osayande, who didn’t just teach me how to do the job—they encouraged me to think bigger and develop as a professional. Their insights were a constant source of inspiration. The Power of Teamwork: Working alongside a diverse and talented team taught me the true value of collaboration. Brainstorming sessions and group projects showed me just how much we can achieve when we work together, blending different perspectives to create something stronger. Growth Through Challenges: There were tough days—tight deadlines, unexpected obstacles—but these moments pushed me to adapt and think creatively. I learned the importance of resilience and asking for help when needed. These challenges became milestones in my growth. The Journey Continues: Now that my watch has ended at ESH, I’m filled with gratitude for this experience. I want to thank Edo Specialist Hospital, my consultants through my various rotations, and the entire team for their support and guidance. Though this chapter has ended, I’m excited to carry these lessons with me into the next stage of my career. To all future interns: Embrace the journey, seek out challenges, and build connections.
