These are two recent articles from different parts of the globe that troubled me: South Africa and India. 🇿🇦 https://lnkd.in/eSZS6Nya 🇮🇳 https://lnkd.in/eYFnQHU8 Both seem to suggest that #padel is apparently developing a #reputation as a #premium/ #lifestyle or #business/ #networking product. My initial reaction to this over the last couple of years has been to resist it, challenge it and contradict it. But the sense is becoming increasingly prevalent, when speaking to entrepreneurs seeking investment and when speaking to people with some awareness of the sport (see Episode 14 of All The Angles this week). Is this a #trend, especially in the newer padel markets, that it is difficult to buck? -Do we need to fight it to create some kind of balance or 360 degree offering? -Should we lean into this segment of users and players? -If we are to fight it, how and who should lead the charge? -If we lean into it, what do we gain? What do we lose? -Is padel destined to be the next golf? Can it be the next basketball? #padelfuture #premiumsport #networking #sportbusiness #padelbiz
