As per the findings of the "We Never Give Up the Fight: A Report of the National LGBTQ+ Women's Community Survey," LGBTQ+ women encounter intimate partner violence at elevated rates compared to women in the general population. Shockingly, 47% of respondents disclosed experiences with emotional violence, encompassing behaviors like gaslighting, social control, or family isolation, alongside physical or sexual violence perpetrated by their partners. 🏳️🌈💔 #TheLinQFoundation #BringingCommunitiesTogether #LGBTQWomen #IntimatePartnerViolence #EndViolence

*Take part in our short survey* ‼️ We are living in increasingly difficult times for LGBTQ+ folks in the UK and insecure housing and homelessness is one important dimension of that. We are a research team that is working with akt, the UK’s only LGBTQ+ youth homeless charity, to better understand LGBTQ+ youth homelessness and LGBTQ+ experiences of various homelessness and housing services. And we need as many young people and people working in the housing and homelessness sector as possible to help us bring about better understanding of the issues faced by our communities. If you feel you have the time and energy to participate - please follow the link below! You do not have to be LGBTQ+ to take part in the survey. We are interested in all types of insecure housing and homelessness experienced by LGBTQ+ youth - including sofa surfing, staying with friends, etc, so if you have experienced any of those circumstances, do take part. It is crucial that we get as many answers as possible so that we can gain better knowledge about young people's experience, so any help you can lend us with distributing the surveys would be great. Both of the surveys can be found through this link: https://lnkd.in/eYa3JXew #YouthHomelessness #HomelessnessAwareness #Transrights #LGBTQ #IDAHOBIT #Stonewallhousing #AKTcharity

Today is LGBTQ+ Domestic Violence Awareness Day. If you do nothing else today, watch the following video and share this post. Did you know that approximately 60% of LGBTIQ+ people experience domestic and family violence. Furhtermore, only 10% will report the violence. This can be a range of reasons including: - thinking that domestic and family violence cannot occur between same sex partners - societal barriers, including not being seen and believed by services - lack of financial and other supports available. The LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation and Workplace Respect have developed free online training for frontline staff to help tackle this issue. Yet, it's not just the responsibility of frontline workers, but it's everyone's responsibility. It's your responsibility. If you want to find out more about creating change and helping to tackle domestic violence and it's causes, check out the following organisations: - LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation - Workplace Respect - She is not your rehab - MATE Bystander Program. https://lnkd.in/gg4q3ebx #LGBTQDomesticViolenceAwarenessFoundation #LGBTQDomesticViolenceAwarenessDay #SeeHearBelieve #SeenAndBelieved

🌈 Building Inclusive Communities in Challenging Times In recent years, the UK and Ireland have seen a troubling rise in racism and anti-LGBTQ+ attitudes. According to recent statistics, hate crimes based on sexual orientation have increased by over 15%, and racially motivated incidents continue to rise in just the past few days alone. This underscores the urgent need for community-driven solutions that promote understanding and inclusivity. 🌟we are committed to supporting marginalized groups, including LGBTQ+ individuals, Neurodivergent people, and People of Colour. Our mission is to connect these communities with allied businesses that share our vision of equity and inclusivity. By working together, we can create safe spaces where everyone feels valued and respected, regardless of their background. 🌍 Let’s stand united against hate and discrimination and ensure that every voice is heard. #CommunitySupport #DiversityAndInclusion #StandAgainstHate #Empowerment #EqualityForAll

🌈 Today is LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Day. Both national and international research suggests that LGBTQ+ people experience sexual, family and/or intimate partner violence at the same rate or 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 than women in the wider population. However, there has been very limited research into sexual, family and intimate partner violence experienced by LGBTQ+ people both in Australia and internationally. This could be in part because of stigma associated with both violence and abuse, as well fear of discrimination experienced by LGBTQ+ communities. It could also be that it has not been prioritised. More research is needed to understand abusive relationships in our community and the best ways to support people who experience violence and abuse. Being a community that clearly rejects violence, as well as the attitudes and behaviours that support it, is critical that we create the change that will stop violence before it starts we must ensure victim/survivors are #SeenAndBelieved

LGBTQ+ youth account for up to 40% of the 4.2 million youth experiencing homelessness in the US, despite only representing about 9.5% of the general population. Homelessness and housing instability were reported at higher rates among trans and nonbinary youth - with 38% trans girls, 39% trans boys, and 35% non binary youth experiencing homelessness. Under the weight of anti-LGBTQ+ violence, systems-impacted trans and queer youth are perpetually forced into survival mode and are never given the chances they deserve to access safety, wellness, happiness, and success - Which each one of us deserves. Eradicating the violent systems of incarceration and homelessness must be our first priority if we hope to see a time where LGBTQ+ youth can truly thrive! #blackandpinknational #HousingNotHandcuffs
