I am excited to announce that I completed a comprehensive online course on Coursera focused on Generative Design for Industrial Applications using Autodesk Fusion 360. This course emphasized the importance of exploration and iteration in engineering design, as the design process is rarely linear or straightforward. We delved into designing for traditional manufacturing methods and utilized generative design to create the perfect model. From there, we reverse-engineered the generative designs to adapt them to conventional manufacturing methods and explored fabricating the generative versions to weigh the pros and cons of each approach. I ran simulations to test the strength and validity of each part I designed. I can now use Generative Design tools to create a part for complex machine tools such as CNC machining or a part that can use a simpler manufacturing method such as sheet metal fabrication. This course has truly expanded my understanding and skills in generative design and industrial applications, and I can't wait to apply these new insights and techniques to my future projects. I also thank my Professors Phani Tetali, Naveen Bhardwaj, PhD, Venkatesh Varala, Nilakshi Yein, Swati Sarkar, Vikas Thapa, Nagesh Lakhan for guiding my design path. In my journey of using solidworks for the past 5+ years, I’m able to witness the improvement of user interaction developments, and here are some of my most favourite interaction experiences with the solidworks desktop application. · The use of progressive disclosure with the elements in sketch and features to present only the most relevant information at each stage of interaction, reducing cognitive overload. This prevents users from overwhelming with too much information at a single point of time. · Up part from search autocomplete/ autosuggest, the show command location icon sitting very next to the autosuggestions in the search bar helps users to navigate quickly, reducing the task time, and ultimately increasing the η. · And off course the use predefined patterns of mouse gesture-based navigation to trigger customizable primary actions providing a faster and more intuitive way to interact. I'm eagerly anticipating the future versions of SolidWorks, especially with the upcoming trends in somaesthetic and other multimodality enhancement. The prospect of integrating these modalities can advance the touch-based and extended reality modes than conventional approaches in design applications!
