I visited the 2024 Shanghai SWOP(Shanghai World of Packaging) Exhibition two weeks ago. A successful ITMA Asia 2024 closed its door. Stephan Kehry from Erhardt+Leimer GmbH summarizes as follows: "ITMA ASIA 2023 showed two things: the great potential of Asian textile machine manufacturers on the one hand and the lack of customers on the other. One year later, the current edition of ITMA ASIA confirmed the supremacy of the Asian competition, although more customers seemed to have found joy in investing again. Accordingly, Erhardt+Leimer's expectations in the run-up to the trade fair were rather muted, but were raised to a cautiously optimistic level after the first few days. The 90m² stand was well attended for almost the entire time and the almost 20 employees of the long-established German company had their hands full answering the enquiries of well over 200 visitors and presenting appropriate solutions in the fields of automation, sensor technology and energy saving. This trade fair has once again impressively demonstrated that quality and innovation are still the main factors for not only surviving against an ever-increasing competition, but also for emerging from it stronger." #TextileIndustry #TextileMachinery #ITMA

🌏 As I gather notes from the recent Canton, HKDTC, and Global Sources Fairs, one theme stood out: factory diversification at an unprecedented scale! 🚀 Factories are moving final assembly to countries like Vietnam, India, and others. 🤔 I was unsure whether this translated into component production in these countries or just final assembly. My conversations with manufacturers tell me it's the latter. 🔍 It'll be interesting to see how this diversification drives manufacturing trends in the next decade. 👀 Will be watching!

The WEF has recognized two more Fii facilities as Lighthouse factories.  Fii's Bac Giang Province facility becomes Vietnam's first Lighthouse factory, while the Shenzhen Guanlan factory is certified as Fii's first Sustainable Lighthouse.   WEF's evaluation noted: “In its global expansion for supply chain resilience, Foxconn Industrial Internet Viet Nam overcame initial challenges such as heavy reliance on imported materials and the opportunity to develop local talent. By implementing 40+ 4IR use cases, including advanced planning and AI-driven automation, the site improved labour productivity by 190%, achieved 99.5% on-time delivery and cut manufacturing costs by 45%."   Fii's Vietnam and Guanlan factories showcase the perfect compatibility of efficient manufacturing and sustainability. #Foxconn #FiiViệtNam #WEF #NhàMáyThôngMinh #PhátTriểnBềnVững #Lighthouse
