🚗💨 Imagine taking a Bolt ride across Europe without hassle! Right now, shared mobility services face a maze of different rules in each EU country. For example: • In Rome, only 1000 ride-hailing licenses are allowed. That's like limiting gelato shops in the city of pasta! • Some countries require drivers to return to a garage between rides - Germany. It's as if your pizza delivery had to go back to the restaurant before bringing you your order! An EU Single Market for Shared Mobility would change this. How? • One set of rules for all of Europe • Easier for companies to operate across borders What do you think? Should the EU create a single market for shared mobility? Look into the official Bolt position paper on the topic! #EuropeanMobility #SharedEconomy #SmartCities

🇪🇺 Shared mobility has record consumer demand in Europe, and is increasingly integrating with public transport networks 🚃 to provide affordable, accessible transport options for all. 🚗 Ride-hailing is the key 'gateway' to the shared mobility ecosystem, it offers the convenience of personal cars and links in to many other options like eBikes, Scooters and car clubs. We believe the service is the key to get people out of their own cars, use multiple other modes of transport, and ultimately reduce total car journeys, especially shorter ones. To do this, ride-hailing needs supportive, balanced regulation, but it doesn't have this everywhere. Today, Bolt is calling for a single market on shared mobility in Europe 🇪🇺 , one that maximises the social, economic and environmental benefits, and meets the evolving demands of the millions of Europeans who use shared mobility every day. 🇪🇸 Minimum waiting time (🇮🇹) 🇩🇪 Return to garage 🇬🇷 Minimum duration of rides All these are different sides of the same coin: arbitrary regulation 🤷🏼♂️ Restrictions like the ones mentioned above lead only to higher prices for consumers, longer pickup times, and a less reliable service, which could finally increase dependence on personal vehicles. As the EU starts a new cycle, it is key to rethink our cities and enable more #sharedmobility solutions by also adapting the regulatory framework to common standards all across the EU 🇪🇺 Why should a user wait for 15 minutes (or 30) when ordering a ride-hailing service in some Spanish cities (and maybe soon in all Italian cities) ⏱? Wouldn't it be nice if you didn't have to worry about getting into the city or being ripped off wherever you land in the EU? 🛬 The EU is meant to stand for 'a single market with the free movement of goods, services, capital, and people,' and to work towards reducing disparities between regions, ensuring that all citizens benefit from economic and social progress. In reality, many EU countries have crazy rules that limit transport options and make it more expensive: *In Greece, the minimum duration of a Private Hire Vehicle ride is 3 hours. *In Luxembourg, you have to book a ride 60 minutes in advance. *In Catalonia, Spain, a ride-hailing vehicle must be at least 4.90 meters in *length, promoting larger vehicles that pollute more and occupy more city space. *In Germany and Greece, drivers are expected to do an empty run 'back to the garage' after every trip if not immediately booked, producing avoidable emissions. With shared mobility set to double by 2030, modernised rules are needed to ensure fair competition and create more opportunities for European passengers, drivers, and cities. Madrid Joins Cities Banning Rental E-Scooters 🚫 Madrid’s recent ban on rental e-scooters raises important questions about the future of shared e-mobility in urban spaces. While e-scooters offer a sustainable travel alternative, concerns over user safety and responsible parking highlight a critical need for e-mobility companies to better align with city regulations. Urban mobility solutions can only thrive when they benefit both users and cities. As shared e-mobility evolves, collaboration between operators and policymakers will be essential for sustainable progress. Cities banning rental e-scooters often cite #parking issues as a key challenge, with geofencing and docking stations offering limited solutions. Krakow in Poland took a different route by adopting a rental solution for #escooter parking. Cities Today's Christopher Carey spoke with Lukasz Franek, Director of the Krakow Transport Authority, about this novel approach towards embracing #micromobility, the response from operators, and the positive results he has seen. “Now after being in place for one year, I think it’s been very successful. E-scooter users are more aware and operators are more focused.” 👉 https://lnkd.in/d68jB3vx #urbanmobility #sharedmobility
