#CivGive2024: Together, We Write History 🌟 Bringing communities together to achieve common goals by celebrating our shared passions has been my driving inspiration for nearly two decades. December 1st was this year’s CivGive 2024, 5th annual charity event for Gamers Outreach, was no exception. Despite challenges that pushed us out of our comfort zones, the Civilization gaming community rallied once again to make the audacious achievable. Together, with the support of amazing contributors, partners, and participants, we raised $20,000 USD ($28,000 CAD) this year alone, bringing our lifetime total to $170,000 USD ($235,000 CAD) for children’s charities. This year’s funds are going directly toward providing gaming stations in children’s hospitals, giving kids a sense of joy and normalcy during difficult times. None of this would have been possible without our incredible partners: Firaxis Games, 2K, Parsec and Tiltify A special thanks to those who joined us for exclusive interviews, including Andrew Johnson and Carl Harrison and to the 15 contributors who helped amplify our mission, collectively reaching an audience of over 250,000 people! This is the power of a shared vision. To our community: thank you for coming together to create a lasting #impact. Overcoming challenges with others makes us greater than the sum of our parts, and I’m inspired by what we’ve achieved as a team. Today our direct mail campaign promoting the Scope Summer 2024 appeal lands on doormats up and down the country. We are delighted to have partnered with Scope on their summer campaign this year. A direct mail and email campaign exclusively to current and previous supporters with aims to generate donations, reactivate the lapsed and retain existing supporters. It has been a tough time for disabled families facing the extra costs for living the life many take for granted. The Scope Helpline, website and other resources exist to help disabled families through these challenges. Our mailing celebrates the fifth anniversary of the relaunched Scope Helpline which, in that time, has helped many thousands of disabled people by providing essential advice on topics such as employment, benefits, access to resources, independent living and how to navigate the many challenges faced daily. Feedback and reactions from the people helped is overwhelming, and it is pretty clear how proud the team at Scope are with the achievements. So our campaign celebrates progress over the last 5 years and touches on some of the ambitions for the next 10 years, we also punctuate the pack with persuasive messages asking for support.   At a time when direct mail in general, and postage costs in particular, are not getting a lot of loving press coverage, we can’t overlook the power of mailings. A pack can have the genuine capacity to deliver very compelling messages to supporters and ultimately generate vital funds for charities and their service users. It's not sexy. For lots of volunteer committees it can feel like a burden. For many starting out in the world of volunteer governance it can be quite frightening and overwhelming. But good governance is so important to ensure the sustainable future of our toy libraries. It has been super exciting to see all the toy libraries who have pulled on their big kid pants and sorted out their ACNC registration, the passion of our toy library community should never be underestimated. I am super proud to work for a peak body who provides practical support to enable volunteers to develop their understanding and mastery of good governance. If we want to bring more good people into the board rooms of Australia maybe we should all be looking to invest more in the good people who are already delivering on good governance right now in volunteer roles right across the country?

The holiday season is about more than just twinkling lights and festive cheer—it’s about coming together to make a difference. This year, the Landform team truly embodied the spirit of giving, rallying to support our local communities and spreading extra joy. We’re proud to share that our team stepped up in a big way, raising $1,426.41 for CAER Food Shelf in Elk River and Joyce Uptown Foodshelf. And guess what? Project Spotlight: Increasing donations for Warrington based shelter and support charity with a simple and accessible donations website Warrington-based charity, Room at the Inn, provides daytime services to the homeless and vulnerable people in the local community and a 22-bed emergency accommodation unit. They faced challenges in reaching potential donors and facilitating an easy donation process. Their goal was to create a virtual gifting website in time for Christmas, offering a range of charity gift cards and highlighting specific needs during this time of year.  Just Digital’s design and tech teams brought the charity’s initiative to life to develop the concept for a pre-Christmas launch.  The site was successfully launched on the 1st of December and Room at the Inn saw an increase in donations before Christmas.
